Soul Tie
aimee Sep 12
Tell me a tale of man created,
Formed with calloused hands.
Taking shape, a mirrored thing.
Tell me a tale of violent love,
Playing a game with fate.
Man torn in two, blood gushing.
The wounds would heal,
But the scars remain, stark and longing.

Tell me a tale of two beings,
Broken bodies and sick hearts,
Manipulated by the hands who granted them life.
Bored and power-drunk gods,
Let's play a game.

Tell me a tale of souls intertwined,
But forever held apart.
Golden cords looping bleeding hearts,
Searching and destined for doom.

Tell me a tale of hope flickering,
A lantern upon the darkest night.
Two souls rejoined, rejoice.
Love and destiny defeat fate's cruel wrath.
Alas, their candle stutters and blows out.

Tell me a tale of lovesick fools,
Their story only a moment in time.
Yearning replaced with love,
Just to be struck down by tragedy once more.
‘Soul Tie’ is largely inspired by Greek mythology and the story of how humankind was created. Myth states that human were first formed with two heads, four arms and four legs but Zeus split them in two - forming the human shape we now exist as. These two now seperate beings are forever cursed to search for their other half and that person was said to be their soulmate.
