I wish, expect, and look forward to…
Word of unknown origin,
Thought to be of general Low Germanic origin
hopia
hopen
hoffen
Suggestions abound
A connection with hop –
To offer leaps of expectation.
I shout:
Let it not be grounded and be transformed in
Despair!
From Latin
De – without
And
Sperare – to hope

Coyote comes knocking
My life turns upside down
My totem
My doom
Trickster
Lonely and loony

Coyote brings stories
Legends are born
Creator
Hero bringing inventions
Discoveries

Yet he is tricked
He tricks

Love and hate
Night and day
Comes and goes
The circle is renewed
Never gone

Horizons clear up
Bright Sun looks down
Upon this human
Being trying to grow forth
Leaving darkness behind
For one more day of trickster lore

Rain pouring outside the car
My daddy changing the tire
I stand on tiny toes looking out the window
Never have I seen so much water

Rivulets go down his nose
His hair the rain runs down
Inside his jacket the rain hides
No no poor daddy

Help I cannot offer
One year old so mommy says
When I ask how old I was
When daddy changed that tire

Going to visit Aunt Nina
When she was sick
How cute says she
Touching my face

The sixth day of the week
Just following Thursday
Right before Saturday

It is the day of the goddess of marriage
Frigu
Odin’s wife
A friend
Free
And helpful

It comes announcing the beginning of the weekend
Plans to be made
No schedules
After this day
After tonight

But Friday comes
With the promise
Of Monday
So
The problem with Friday
Is Monday

— The End —
