Seasons
When I first saw him
it was like a breath
of fresh
air.

Long days lying
in sunlit fields
grass tickling his toes
my nose.
April showers
brought May flowers
he picked one
for me.
It was spring.

Carnival games
he bought my ticket
I paid him back
with a kiss.
Ice cream on the beach
his hand falling
down my back
up my spine.
It was summer.

Pumpkin patches
snapping funny pictures
he's got a smile
it's just for me.
Strolling through the park
the wind howls
he drapes his jacket over me
I shiver.
It is autumn.

He smiles at her.
She is wearing his jacket.
It is winter.
I can't breathe.
