it seems to me
at once we thought of us as meteors
flashing remnants of some distant sun
one hovering nowhere, the other earth bound
but when we collided in an unexpected crossroad
we became each other's scourge
trapping then revealing prism like
the dark shades of our encumbered souls
suddenly you are gone
for a life you can never have and
left behind i wondered
another clan's heirloom porcelain
must have been broken by my callused hand
we meet again
in time of shifting landscapes
the sun sets down on us now
for finally it has framed in stillness
a horizon though blurry somehow
but devoid of gaping holes and ugly scars
of levelled molehills, not the mountains we feared
when first made that open mouthed kiss
someday over a cup of morning coffee
you may recall this with a smile,
the story behind my bespectacled eyes
a quixotic fellow traveller, a lover almost
who tried to catch a dream in your audacious sighs --
a tale of immense passion indeed
but in the end pointless
as the smoke coming off your burning cigarette.
