If you're based in London we have a very special offer for you as a Hello Poetry user! We've managed to secure special price £10 tickets for a wonderful new poetry-theatre piece at the National Theatre in London's Southbank centre. The show is Inua Ellam's second outing to the National and is called 'Black T-Shirt Collection'.
Here's the trailer:
He's a very visual poet, born in Nigeria in 1984 before moving to London with his family as a teenager. He's ambitious and creative with his work, and is a master of metaphor and hypnotic rhymes, drawing from the hip-hop tradition and treating big subjects through the filter of the everyday. I first saw him at Glastonbury poetry tent in 2005 and he was incredible with just a microphone, so I personally can't wait to see what he has done at the Cottesloe.
Below is the link to the National theatre website. Enter 5576 in the promotion code box at the top right of the first screen for £10 tickets to the performance at 6pm at the Cottesloe Theatre on April 16th. If you can't make it then, do go along some other time before April 24th when the run ends. If you're lucky enough to be under 25, you can get tickets to any performance for £5, but why not come to the HP gathering on Monday if you can make it.
Comment to let me know if you're booking a ticket and we'll have somewhere you can pop by if you want to meet other HP users on the night. And if we get 20+ people I might be able to persuade Inua to meet us briefly afterwards, so pass it on to your London friends!
