Braveheart
Beverly Rowland May 2016
You came to me upon that hill,
with sword and shield to conquer.
Defeated there no force by you,
my heart was all you were after.

With ease of resistance here at your feet,
I lay down my heart till its last beat.
You were so brave to see this through,
I surrender my walls to only you.

Desire of passion you've laid on my soul,
so powerful and compelling.
So I humbly hold your trusted hand,
to lead us to loves new dwelling.

Finding You
Beverly Rowland Jul 2015
With age we gain wisdom to see from our past,
we fear all the good things we know never last.
It becomes so uneasy to try this again, knowing
heartache will be too close and within.

One step forward and two steps back, I must be
so careful since love hasn't last. We leave this
earth or we go our own ways, but one thing for
sure, my loves doesn't stray.

It's not going to be easy to let you come in, to a
heart that's been broken, again and again. There's
so much love to give you, if you find your way
but my troubled heart needs trust to obey.

With age we learn that words are just words, and
a pretentious man can say them. Yet, if we fall for
it all at our seasoned years, we've gained nothing
but a cloud to hide in.

Love's never easy to get too, it takes time to come
together. Like a recipe you add, first trust then a
promise forever. I'll fill your life with laughter,
if it's togetherness you're after.

You Can't Buy Heaven
Beverly Rowland Mar 2015
Don't matter who you are,
or how much money you make.
Don't matter if you tithe each Sunday,
God can see a fake.

When people know how much you give,
or just how much you've done,
it's hard to call that humble when your
bragging to your son.

If people turn and walk away, you can bet
they have good reason.
God want's us all to be the best we can
and get away from those unpleasing.

I won't raise my voice in anger,
or even scream or shout.
I realize I'm not perfect, yet you don't need
to point that out.

God know's he still has much to teach me,
but my hearts in the right place.
When all is said and done for us,
your money you can't take!

My Conflict
Beverly Rowland Mar 2015
Once upon a time, I found that love of mine.
It was in his eye's and in his touch,
without a doubt we loved so much.

As time went on our love grew strong,
we knew where we belonged.
We danced and played and made each day
a memory with our songs.

I surely wasn't ready, the day God called
him home. I wanted to go with him, I
can't bare to breath alone.

Six years has come and gone so fast,
but still my heart feels empty. I know it's
time to let someone in, but how do I let
go of our dance?

A kind man asked for my heart today,
I wanted to turn and run away.
If he looks in my eye's he may see my soul,
my pain that's hidden within.

Or was this man so kind and gentle sent
here for a reason? Should I give this man my
broken heart and see if it feels pleasing.

I couldn't bare to go through this again,
my heart would just stop beating.

A Guarded Heart
Beverly Rowland Mar 2015
Like a treasure hidden deep inside.
only one man could reach it though
others have tried. Your words may come
easy, yet I'll be no fool. This heart will
stay guarded, till I feel loves pull.

A man of strength and deep compassion,
holds the key to love everlasting. It will
be in his eyes, on his face and forever
in my warm embrace.

For a true man of honor with grit to his stride,
I'll be waiting well guarded with my treasure
inside.
