Song of November
Beverly Hingson Nov 2010
Took a ride out in the country,
golden leaves waved me along,
they left the safety of their branches,
like a sweet November song,
dancing in the sunlight,
they fell softly  to the ground,
fall changed them from summer green,
to gold and orange and red and brown,
sweet will be their passing as they fell I remember,
it happens like this every year, sweet fall song of November.

Swaddling Clothes
Beverly Hingson Nov 2010
From swaddling clothes,
earth and heaven knows,
he left a mark that never fades,
from dusty , rocky, roads and trails,
to rusty, bitter hammered nails,
he lived and died and lives again and I've got to say,
that I've been left with his WORD and a soul that's saved,
and a thankful heart filled with the love I craved,
and all the humbleness a king should show,
on a star lit night wrapped in swaddling clothes.

America
Beverly Hingson Nov 2010
Our flag stands for freedom and I'm free enough to be
Quite frank enough to say if you don't like it here then leave
Cause we are still the best around and we've spent a long time showing
That we will stand the test of time and leave the whole world knowing
That we can fight our battles no matter what the cost
Though some wars have claimed our best they can't get us all
A force to be reckoned with and as we look ahead we'll be
Reflecting on a legacy for all the world to see.

The Face in the Mirror
Beverly Hingson Nov 2010
Stop pretending to be someone who
just like you is pretending too
drop the dreaming that it's not all true
start depending on you to do
anything it takes to right this wrong
it's been going on far too long
cause
the face in the mirror won't let you forget
you've pretended before and  you're not done yet
you're pushing the limit, crossing the line
packed up and running one more time, but
empty miles will only make it clearer
that you can't out run the face in the mirror

Gold in the Backyard
Beverly Hingson Nov 2010
There's gold in the backyard where the leaves have fallen,
and I was told by the wind that winter will be calling,
Oh, white winter have some mercy and I'll love you like the spring,
like the sun of  the summer and the color these leaves bring.
