Dancing
Ashley Marie Jun 2013
I dance on moonlight,
With the shadows of the trees,
Making my way over sidewalk cracks so
My mother doesn't have to see a chiropractor,
And I'm only seven but the world is a small place to me,
I want to go to Mars.
So sometimes I put a mixing bowl over my head,
I pretend I'm an astronaut.
I'm good at pretending,
Just as good as I am at dancing,
In the moonlight,
Trying to convince the shadows of the trees,
That they could be happy too.

Like Stars
Ashley Marie Jun 2013
If I could be a star,
I'd be the one you make a wish on,
The first star in the night sky,
Bold enough to stand out in a crowd,
Yet subtle enough to only be noticed when I need to be.
I'd watch as the world turned underneath me,
With you looking at me like I'm all you have to put your faith in.
And the people that don't believe in God would believe in me.

If I could be a star,
I'd fall to the earth for you,
So you could discover my remains and tell your story on the news,
I'd make your wishes come true, that girl you've always loved,
Will eventually say, "I do."

I'd never have to worry about the way I look because,
I'd know that I have the potential to light up your world.
And if I could be a star,
I would,
Because if I were,
I'd be bright and brilliant,
And beautiful.
