Mapped Out
Incubate eternity through their wisdom
Worship the strategic plan
Alarm clocks ring
Wedding bells sing
Worship the strategic plan

Manipulate the walls of existence
Look past life's deceit
Question why
The babies cry
Look past life's deceit

Contemplate our insignificance
Find comfort in the unknown
A grain of sand
Among foreign lands
Find comfort in the unknown

Deviate dreams and appeared aspirations
Don't fret a "greater purpose"
Why plan ahead?
Just live instead
Don't fret a greater purpose

Dig it.
Life's a garden.
When the world is telling you "Don't be a ***",
Just "Dig it"

Life.
Sometimes I ponder...
why clothes mannequins have *******,
why regular sized food doesn't taste as good as nibbles.
why having had braces makes me dribble,
more than I did before

Why would Dr. Oz tell me to stay tuned,
until after the ad break,
if he wants me to do more exercise?
I ponder this in my fat pants...

Maybe I don't fear the unknown,
as much as the next guy,
the insignificant life forms we are,
why do we care so much?

Bobby D isn't satisfied with any answers,
the meaning of life just doesn't add up.
Perhaps I can trust him,
he hasn't given up yet...

Since I can't stroke my long beard of wonders,
I pat my cat and stare thoughfully into the distance,
except my mind is blank and full of nothingness.

I lick the fatty goodness from the french fries off my fingers.
"Don't listen to them" says my conscience,
"Conforming gets you nowhere".

Chamomile and Honey
Chamomile and honey
Polka-dots and money
Teacup pigs are funny
I'm cold when it's sunny

Take me to your house
Treat me like your spouse
More quiet than a mouse
Less violent than a louse

Seek and you will find
The bobbin that I wind
All in love are blind
Stay always on my mind

Different is good
Don't conform to your 'hood
The trees will bring you wood
Trust in them you should

Never fear the unknown
For the trees have grown
The wind has blown
The birds have flown
My soul has shown

My You Have Grown
A cheery chime of the doorbell,
Shoes off, slippers on,
A familiar yell greets us from the kitchen,
Lunch will be soon no doubt

Warm embraces envelope me,
Nana looks up into my eyes,
My you have grown!
Granddad still towers above me,
A lanky man, his pants too short,
And consequently, knee high socks

Tummies rumbling violently,
The lounge our waiting room,
No need for breakfast today,
We brace ourselves for the upcoming feast

Ornaments line shelves in cabinets,
Each one with its own back story,
Immaculate as always,
Not one speck of dust
Everything just so, just as I remember it

Usual inquires take place,
How’s school, how’s work, what’s new
Granddad has a new joke,
An interesting fact about the universe,
A story from his times in the war
Did I tell you about that joker?
He reckoned he didn’t like potatoes!

A call to the dinner table,
Plates of food, Tetris pieces,
Fitting into place
A mountain faces me,
My challenge, the question is,
Can I conquer it?

Eyes meet, we smile,
Mountains conquered,
Bellies fit to burst,
All on the brink of explosion,
Nana brings out dessert

Yet another, it was thought, impossible victory
Would anyone like anything to finish up with?
We nod, Nana smiles
Not even mountains could prevent us,
From jelly cake and biscuits
A poem I wrote about my grandparents for school last year.

Stuck
I do not belong.

No direction
No motives
No goals
The last puzzle piece
Noone ever seems to find

Everything
Keeps you awake
Nudging at your bones
Knocking on your thoughts
An unwelcome visitor

Upset
No reason
Blurred and fuzzy
Life loses reception
Uncertainty's latest victim

Dead end
Confused
The map is blank
Direction ceases
Pathway unknown

Welcome to "Nowhere".

Depths
Deep, way deep
Inside your mind
You’ve walked its paths
A thousand times

Storing all of
What you once knew
Parts remain lost
Some come back to you

Twists and turns
Some good, some bad
Longing for the future
Yet begging for what you had

Deep, way deep
Inside your soul
All of your emotions
They truly show

The grass surrounds you
Continues to grow
And simultaneously
You continue to mow

Lying there
Watching the clouds
With another
Sharing thoughts aloud

Back to reality
The truth isn’t so sweet
When you feel now
What lies beneath your feet

— The End —
