Weeping Widow II
Anna Jane Lovett Dec 2014
Every moment would be fractured
Skewed, malignant, only after
Love and plenty drew them nearer
To the ending of her nightmares.

Weeping widow
Eyes of blue
Considers well the end of you
But children lie with sleepy cries
And her heart still aches, too.

With all their might
They'll push on through
To find the solution that's right
To impossible dreams and
Impossible bleeds and
Impossible themes of the night.

His heart stopped.

The world.
Stopped.
There. In the hospital bed.

Gone.

Weeping widow,
Children too,
All left to a shivering world

Their hands were cold
But his were colder

Than the snowy Christmas dawn.

We weep for wonder
Wandering far alone,
For shadows of their
Smiles.

Children cry for kindness
Coming forth alone,
For shadows of their
Smiles.

The dead drown in darkness
Deeper when alone,
With shadows of their
Smiles.

Buildings bud in sunlight
For hours in the morn
But burn to see the shadows of their
Spires.

We aspire in our bliss
Wandering far alone,
With shadows on our
Smiles.

You had so much potential, but I just couldn't bring myself to do it.
I couldn't pull the trigger, because you said "please."

Though through the valley
Ran she oft
(The others caused it so)
On occasion
They would be
The staff that for her glows

His father neither
Spoke unkindly
To a soul nor ear
Yet he was needed
Someplace further
Far away from here

And raindrops fell
Through cloudless skies
Until the moon arose
And glist'ning inkwells
Fell to paper
Falling into prose
And we emerged into a life of vivid yellow rose.

Sleeping On Trains
Anna Jane Lovett Dec 2014
Tho soft the snowflakes tumble down
The sunlight shines upon my skin
And peace, in quickly gliding tracks
Is found, and quietly takes me in.

Through white wheat fields and frozen lakes
We travel round the moment;
And mountain skies with glorious pasts
Plead for our departure's postponement.

Once-green fields and once-yellow trees
Are sinking down with the mellow breeze
Now blazing past while in my dreams
I picture spring and warmth with ease.

"Now arriving...careful exiting!"
Sounds as a rude alarm to me
And my sullen eyes again awake
To the winter outside my dreamy glee.

if I can't be happy
i will never be sad
if I can't make love
i will never make war
if this life is impossible
then I'll never die
so you see my young friends
these people, they lie

in wait to deceive you
in terror of sickness
in fear of lost legacies
with terror of death
these people will tell you
what they want you to hear
but you see my young friends
they don't think you have ears

to listen
to learn
to banish
and burn
These foolish ideas
Of the past simple life
That will bring you no good,
Only worries and strife.
Do you see my young friends?
Do you say, "look at them!"?

For they grow, and they flourish.
For tomorrow they die.
And a new generation will rise up in glory
And take us by storm...
And the storm will pass by.

My Heart
Anna Jane Lovett Nov 2014
The cool air is blowing on my frigid skin
My fingers tremble and my heart shakes
I know that I'm not wanted
I know he loves her now
Even though I thought...
My back hurts, my heart
My heart is shaking
My heart doesn't want him to leave
My heart, it trembles
O my heart my heart!
What is the cure for this?
Where is the research?
Who is he to act this way?
Who am I to think...
Who am I?
Don't I love some other distant perfection?
I love him.
I loved him, too.

When I Have Fear
Anna Jane Lovett Jul 2015
To never be content with the life
You live and to be sorrowful and
So full of strife and unfulfilled dreams
To be an extra member of society
You live and dream to gain the role you desire
Yet never to be claimed is your remodel
Of earth and love and life as you would hope.
