Resurrection
Angela Minard Mar 2014
When you feel as if can no longer inhale
the weight of darkness pressing against your eyes
When you wander for hours
searching for horses without a compass
only to find yourself
lost once again within a silence so loud
that you place ******* against the warm softness of your neck
surprised by the throbbing beat confirming your existence
You are alive,
so why do you hold onto this disappearing act?
You are alive
so make the decision to stay
even when you remember
and even when the ache steals your breath
Even when shame rips through your body
over and over again
It is not yours
Can you hear me?
It is not yours
Don't go
Reach inside the pain until you find her
Wrap your love around her tiny shoulders
embracing her brave heart
Tell her that she is safe now, and she needs to stay
because you need to stay
and live

Worthy

of what?
lies?
indifference?

Raging at my own heart
that breaks apart so easily
moment by moment
in fits and starts
wildly beating, wide open
like a fool
blindly chasing an illusion

Worthy

of what?
time?
evasion?

A strange alliance
this friendship we have
absurdly laughable
and unworthy of these words
or anything ever offered
because I am more than
worthy...

Play Me

The dissonant chords spill down my spine
the ominous sound of winter wind
as the metronome ticks back and forth

You are all at once darkness and light
the sin of silence
as your hands pound against my keys

Did I feel you touch me?
I can smell the salt of your skin
on my fingertips to remind me

Fasten my dress
and drive me through winding roads
tell me your dreams
as I trace your palm

the lines that intersect with mine...
