School Memories.
Andrew DEXTER Jul 2012
Memories of my school days,
I remember being in class,
It seems like only yesterday,
Now the years have come to pass.

Looking back in years gone by,
There were happy times and sad,
Playing in the school yard,
The lessons weren't all that bad.

I didn't like maths at all in class,
My favourite was always art,
I always enjoyed the break times,
A fight would sometimes start.

We had assembly in the mornings,
We would sing and we would pray,
Walk in single file to the classroom,
I loved coming home each day.

The happiest times of our lives,
They went so quick somehow,
My school days are all over,
They are all behind me now.

Nana.
Andrew DEXTER Jul 2012
You went away so long ago,
In the dim and distent past,
I still remember you nana,
I was a boy when I saw you last.

I remember all the good times,
all the laughs we used to share,
But now those days are gone,
You are no longer there.

The times have changed so quickly,
The family have all moved on,
It's never really been the same,
Since the day that you were gone.

One day we'll all meet again,
In heaven up above,
Forever in Gods paradise,
and never ending love
Dedicated to my maternal grandmother Rita Higgs, who died on Saturday the 10th of July 1982, she was just 53 years old, I was 12 at the time. It's been 30 years this month, I still remember it.

School Bullies.
Andrew DEXTER Jul 2012
They bullied me at school,
It stayed within my mind,
The cruel words they said,
The bullies were so unkind.

They were making fun of me,
It hurt me so much inside,
They often called me names,
The tears I tried to hide.

I just wanted to be accepted,
I never really fitted in,
Bullied for being different,
They would always win.

Those days are gone forever,
The memories are still there,
My self confidence is gone,
Life seems so unfair.

Childhood memories.
Andrew DEXTER Jul 2012
Memories of my childhood,
What a fantastic time I had,
Memories of my loved ones,
Good times with mum and Dad.

Coming home from school,
Always filled my heart with joy,
Knowing safety with my family,
When I was a little boy.

The music was much better,
Television was quite good too,
I loved the incredible Hulk,
My favourite was Doctor who.

The innocence of childhood,
If only I could just go back,
I should leave the past behind me,
I must get my life on track.

Nostalgia.
Andrew DEXTER Jul 2012
Time keeps moving on so fast,
The things that we collect,
We keep things to remember,
So we never will forget.

Photographs and keepsakes,
Reminders of the past,
Memories of long ago,
Moments we want to last.

The places that I've been to,
The people I have met,
They're now images in my mind,
They're moments to reflect.

Memories are in your head,
Not in things that we posessed,
They help us to remember,
But we can all get obsessed.

Get a life.
Andrew DEXTER Jul 2012
I love science fiction,
I think it's harmless fun,
Just don't take it seriously,
There's simply no harm done.

I love watching star wars,
It may sound a little sad,
I love Doctor who as well,
I watched it with my Dad.

I like classic star trek,
My favourites are Kirk and Spock,
To boldly go where no man's gone,
The monsters always gave a shock.

They say it's all for children,
How wrong can they really be,
They say that I should get a life,
But it's done no harm to me.

Samantha.
Andrew DEXTER Jul 2012
The words that you see here,
They were not for all to see,
Now I want them all to know,
How much you mean to me.

It doesn't really matter,
You fill my heart with pride,
The first time that I saw you,
I felt so much joy inside.

Prepare yourself for this world,
Take everything day by day,
On times when it gets too much,
I'm not too far away.

Your family will protect you.
We'll do whatever we can,
I love you so much, you're worth it.
You'll always be my little Sam.

The precious name of Jesus.
Andrew DEXTER Jul 2012
Shout the name of Jesus,
Such a precious name,
Say it without fear,
Say it without Shame.

Never say in blasphemy,
Praise his name on high,
Remember what he did,
On the cross he was to die.

Jesus the lord and saviour,
He suffered with such pain,
The precious name of Jesus,
Do not use his name in vain.

Remember the lord Jesus,
Praised and glorified is he,
Don't forget what Jesus did,
He died for you and me.

Real Kindness.
Andrew DEXTER Jul 2012
Real kindness is giving,
Not wanting in return,
Giving is a joy for me,
Something we should learn.

I believe in helping,
Many people are in need,
I know it is God's plan,
I will do my best indeed.

I give when I don't want to,
Whatever they may ask,
They may need it more than me,
It can be a difficult task.

Some people take advantage,
On times they do forget,
Some people don't appreciate it,
They should show respect.

Memories of Dad.
Andrew DEXTER Jul 2012
I dream about my Dad at night,
I dream he's still alive,
I wake up in the morning,
only memories survive.

I would see him every weekend,
when I was a little boy,
he would take me to the cinema,
to me it was all a joy.

The time went quick,
and now it's gone,
it's all so long ago,
but in my mind
I bring it back,
the memories just flow.

I think about him now and then,
and in the past I'd cry,
I wish he did'nt go that day,
we didn't say goodbye.
