When the world begins to thaw
and the snow turns to waterfalls
you will find me skipping rocks in the stream.

When the fireflies light the evenings
and there is a symphony of insects
you will find me under a blanket of stars.

They say the eyes are a window into the soul. Well, it must be true because when you caught my gaze from across the room I knew you saw me. Saw all the good, the bad, the crazy, the past, the future. When you held my gaze, you held my beating heart in the palm of your soft hands and time stood still. Nothing else mattered. Woman, I am still a sappy, sticky mess but I am yours, dripping through your fingers like honey. You call me Honey and I call you Mine.

Will you dance with me under the stars
With the crickets playing our tune
While the wind finds it's way through the trees
In the darkness of the new moon

Will you dance with me in a meadow
With the sunlight kissing your cheek
While we dream up the impossible
Adventures we continue to seek

Will you dance with me through the storm
With the cold rain soaking to the core
While we work through our disparity
May we opt to never close the door

Will you dance with me to the edges
With your hand in mine we will go
While exploring all of the boundaries
Comfortable, easy and slow

Whispering cries in the darkness
but no one can save me now
Stumbling I fall to my knees
Desperately I cry out
A light to shine the way
A voice to follow
Anything, anything at all
But nothing, nothing stirs

I hear heavy breathing
Then realize it's my own
No one's here to save me this time
Pick yourself up, I said
Step boldly through the wreckage
I've got nothing to lose
And everything to gain

You are like a warm cup of coffee on a cold morning
Heating me up with your fiery passion
You opened my eyes
Showed me the world in your fire lit view
A world I had not known before you

we broke promises that were never ours to make
dreamt a future that was not our own
i would have loved you and never let you go
but only because i didn't realize
you were never mine to keep
you loved me and i, you,
more than you will ever know
more than I was capable of showing
at least not then
and later, when I was
it was too late
but not really because timing is a funny thing
as the ocean tide ebbs and flows
so do people
in and out and back again
but never in the same way twice
everything for a reason
this much i have learned
