(If only I were a tree)
amm Dec 2013
I wouldn’t speak. I wouldn’t walk. I wouldn’t
hurt. I wouldn’t annoy. I wouldn’t disappoint. I
wouldn’t depend on you.
I’m sorry; it’s always my fault. I’m sorry that I
couldn’t be a tree.

I.
amm Dec 2013
I.
She interlaced her fingers with his, as
limbs of oak trees extend in his ribcage.
Remembering when she demolished love.
An oblivion to him, his princess,
was far from true perfection. Her cruelty,
nearly tore his heart apart at the seams.
It was mangled and stitched with precaution.
Somehow he remained, knowing she was the
one he desired. She struggles every day
to influence his decision to stay.
Her lips hunger for the rough touch of his
and crave the feeling of butterflies that
multiply in her torso. He plants roots
in her shoes to ensure she won't run off
again. He dreams of her being his for
eternity. She's the nightmare he fears
will become extinct. Time will mend our love.

I want to travel
To get away from you.
Your words,
They burn into my mind.
"You are not who you used to be."
I thought I changed for the better,
but I guess I never really changed at all.

His Bride
amm Oct 2013
Her shoulder blades, sharp enough to split individual teardrops in half that descended her cheekbones. She missed the feeling of the bed caving in, taking the contour of his body. Their legs intertwined under the blackened sheets to remind each other they are not alone, but alone she is. Her lips, cracked from the lack of moisture that his had failed to provide. They long for the taste of his early black coffee that lingered in the corners of his mouth when she awoke after him. The bed would be flushed from his body temperature and she'd roll over to run her fingers across the wrinkles that he left pressed in the sheets, feeling the heat. He was supposed to return to her that morning. Two years after his accident, her memories still transpicuous enough to remember their last everything with impeccable detail. Her gaze dropped down to her slender fingers, left hand, the silver ring that bound their love with the words he asked her to never let escape her memory on their first encounter.
"I do."
This was an assignment for a class I have, basically I needed to write something (anything) that had some sort of meaning to me and then take this and find something to photograph.
This has meaning to me because the last line, "...the words he asked her to never let escape her memory on their first encounter" my boyfriend told me to remember the words "I do" when we first met and I never understood why until he asked me to marry him when we're older.

Sirène

Sirène*

She sat upright upon a rock in the middle of the sea. Her skin, pale and wet, with curves down her torso; her bare spine arched. A tail made up of carefully constructed scales that radiated the glare of sunlight. Her chest rose and fell with each intake of breath. ******* uncovered, out in the open air. She turned her head toward a near by sailor's ship. Her lips bowed into a crooked smile as she opened her mouth, words dripped like her golden locks. She began to sing a beautiful Greek song taught by her sisters. Her muse is the gift of song, a lulliby to those who pass by. She sang the last verse and the men were lead to drowning graves that lay under the ocean's surface.

I was inspired by the Greek myths about the Sirens.

Hospitalized
amm Aug 2013
The clock has stopped moving;
My skin has begun bruising.
I do not wish to live on,
but mother insists.
I have gotten used to her red eyes
and tear-stained cheeks.
Her body has begun giving out,
she is not taking care of herself.
She is far too busy watching,
far too busy waiting.
I am her priority,
although she should begin to let go.
I cannot stay this way.
Our eyes catch contact
all I can see is pain.
Her hand grazes my bare scalp
and she inhales a shaking breath,
"I love you, darling. Don't leave me just yet."

Breathe
amm Aug 2013
How can you breathe out my name
when my lips cannot form the shape of yours?
How can something so impossible be mine to keep?
Your demons are my enemies ~
But I cannot find the cure
that will **** them off,
so you can live without fear,
without a worry in the world.
Breathe my name
and I will attempt once more.
You are not in solitude, my dear.
You are not left in unearthly silence.
Just breathe my name
and I will be there.
