A New Year
Amber Lewis Feb 2013
Empty days filled with blank faces,
Rehearsed conversations and colorless places
Dark nights with no light,
Nothing wrong and nothing right

Leaves change and people grow,
Love found a way to melt the snow

A new year,
Tears dried and nothing to fear
Change in the air,
Someone to adore and someone to care
Wistful days filled with simple pleasures,
A reminder to myself that friendships are treasures

Summer Love
Amber Lewis Feb 2013
Longing glances into honey eyes,
Sun kissed skin mapped by freckles,
Our breaths mingle and invite me closer,
Your kiss explodes the stars,
And with every moment
I'm closer to showing you the depths of my universe

without you
Amber Lewis Mar 2013
if only we could wash away all the days
where our words were left unspoken.

the days where breathing without you
were almost too painful to be real.

the days where sleep became
stained with endless nostalgia
and the hope that you were near

i would stitch the space back together,
our time apart marked by the seams.

i would hold you close and whisper
sweet things against your ear;
letting you know of all
the beautiful things
you never got to hear.

Reflections
Amber Lewis Feb 2013
Long nights sitting by the river,
Imagining your reflection next to me,
The hot summer air bringing nostalgia of the touch of your skin against mine,
The wind whispers,
Tricking me into believing I’m not alone,
But the sun begins to rise,
Reality crashing down on dreams of happiness,
You throw a rock into the water,
Letting the splash destroy the illusion of love

Reasons
Amber Lewis Mar 2013
We're all just searching for reasons
To wake up in the morning

Some do it for the simple things
A kiss
A cup of coffee

Others have a harder time
No train to catch
No hand to hold
No reasons at all.
