during my drive home from work today
I was stopped less than a mile away
from the home I was so desperately
trying to reach sanctuary---within

One big yellow bus
Twinkling in all its red and white light
as the stop sign slowly protruded into sight
if I were anyone else in this city
I would've flown past it with no pity
instead I slowly came to a halt
as I watched them billow out of the vault
twisting and turning they flew
left, right and forward they pursued
high fives left and right as they depart

one less child flew off the cart
landed just so and began to run
away from the world and all its-- fun
another like me; no more pretending
not one more fake laugh, smile, or forced conversation, absolute, blissful nothing.
he running from a day that's finally over
and i doing the same as i drove closer
he running to mom, safety and solitude
and I to a house full of empty rooms
I chuckled as I slowly passed
we were both running from our past
