the unicorn
Alexis BreAnne Apr 2013
they all speak of your beauty
the way you prance above a mist
of delicately blooming flowers

flowing hair wild and free
dancing and rejoicing in the wind

but i have seen you
you are nothing more than a plain horse
with flowers weaved into your box-dyed hair
your movements staged and awkward

you're no unicorn
you're nothing more than an ignorant girl
who can't leave the empty spaces
of the fantasies in her head

I want a divorce.
Alexis BreAnne Jan 2013
Never have I seen a marriage so twisted
Her once glowing personality
Tainted by poison
Rotting her heart, burning her flesh
I only hope that she can escape
From his everlasting wickedness

Who knew such a docile beast
*Could create such a mess?

mermaid wishes
Alexis BreAnne Dec 2012
If I was a mermaid, would you be my sea?
Salty and warm and cradling me
Across your reefs of beauty and wonder
Within your mystery I would discover
Life in your waves in your sands in your eyes
Loving you always despite the lie
That for forever you'd be my sea
Salty and warm and cradling me

The biggest lie ever told
Alexis BreAnne Dec 2012
Love
Is nothing
But the greatest scam
Ever conceived
By the greatest con-artist
To make ourselves feel alright

*but only for a moment

Autumn Death
Alexis BreAnne Dec 2012
The season waged the war of decay
With tiny leaves filling up the streets
Like crinkled bodies
And as I watched those piles build and build
I could only be disturbed by the worn lives
Filling up the graves
Like those dying defeated evergreens

Quiet comforts
Alexis BreAnne Dec 2012
Tonight I cannot sleep
So come to me
Fill my head with dreams
Of love-making and risk-taking
Of your sweet hellos and tender goodbyes
Or better yet love
Be my dream
And never again will I need
The quiet comforts of sleep
