Some people say
That when they mean everything
It means nothing

But what they don't realize
Is that the distance is everything,
and means the absence of something.

With distance,
There's no contact
No hugs

Love's strength is a merely a pittance.
There's no chance for a romantic act
No kisses

You can try to work through it
But at a young age
It doubtlessly falters

Through no fault of their own
The two lovers
kneeling at separate altars

There's work, there's time
There's the fact that neither
really exists to the other.  

There is hurt and there's pain
and eventually it causes them to suffer
or feel they are betraying their mother

Distance really *****.

Respect is a word from the times before
For someone you believe to be esteemed
They do not have to be beyond your door
Or be someone that you might find supreme
They simply could be someone that you know
But you know they are not just there for show

When there is something that should be opposed
Like unfairness that is brought to the light
Especially when some are predisposed
To believe that they are obviously right
Then it is one’s responsibility
To do all that they can to make a change.
It is a powerful ability
That has a large unmeasurable range.
It does not have to be something that’s large
It could be something that is one’s own fault.
Like deciding that you will be in charge
Or saying you will find who is John Galt
But in all honesty what this word means:
You must do what you must behind the scenes.
