God
God
Are                  my thoughts boring
You                  - high above creation,
Listening        barely

Valentine
Valentine - it seems
That this holiday was made
Just for you and me.

Dead
I close my eyes and pray
To travel far away
Beyond this wicked place
Run by a sickening race.

Where peace is a foreign word
Hunted like an animal herd
Shot. Injured. Killed.
Innocent blood is spilled.

Ignorant and careless are you
Who seem to misconstrue -
Take a second look now
And tell me how, how

How can you believe
When there is so much to grieve
That you are right
To pursue this fight.

Hold still and put down your guns
Take a second to think of your sons.
In their eyes, what do they see?
Your murderous killing spree.

Bipolar
I bump along the wooden track,
Along this time around,
Climbing up into the mountains
High above the ground.

My life suspended for a while,
My happiness at such height,
Where dangers cannot touch me now
Or take me from my flight.

But how could I forget the fact
That nothing good will last,
This drop ahead is nothing new –
Just a horror from my past.

My smile quickly fades away
As I fall from the sky,
Taking this familiar dive,
Asking myself why?

Enclosed in the blackened tunnel,
Hidden from the sun,
I close my eyes and fold my hands –
Too late, my fear has won.

I’m trapped inside this darkness,
Afraid this is the end
When finally I see the light,
Just around the bend.

Broken from the crippling spell,
I continue on my way,
But not before remembering
The pain that will forever stay.

Leaving
When I pulled out that little blade
And turned away the food.
You just looked the other way
Till I was gone for good.

I Love you Dad
Upstairs, she keeps quietly busy
moving from room to room
led by the day's ritual -
cooking, cleaning, caring.

She can push emotions aside
and go forward with purpose
assuming that he too can do the same
working steadily downstairs.

What she doesn't know
is that he sits alone in his chair
tears blurring the monitor
weeping for what is no longer.
In memory of my grandmother who was taken by ovarian cancer.

Expectations
What did you expect
To gain from these empty words
A cure? I'm sorry.

Disappearing
Finally,
you've given up.
Completely.

No longer do you eat,
so that your outsides
now match your insides,
and you're suffering
through and through.

For years,
you've been empty,
emotions swept away
to protect yourself
from the dangers everywhere.

Now,
you realize your mistake,
but before you can change
you cry out
help.

As you fade away
… slowly…
everything shrinks,
your body is a symbol
for your hope
but that too is almost gone.

Day and Night
hold no special meaning,
you're forever surrounded
by a darkness

it's closing in
suffocatingyou

Tempting Illusions
Quick!
Take my hand!

Before the alarm separates us yet again
Lead me safely
Back to our hazy haven
Further from the ugly truth of time.

Together we can create

A world
A moment
A promise

Of eternal happiness.

If we ever bore of perfection
You may let me fall this once
Back to the now

Vulnerable

Senses
Tell me what it is you see
When you hold my hand and look at me

Tell me what it is you hear
When I express my love, dear

Tell me what it is you feel
When you read these words so real

Tell me what it is you taste
When you touch your lips to my grace

Tell me what it is you smell
When I place you under a muddled spell

I Love You
Three
Words to tell you
What you mean...

I

Y o u

In
Every touch you give,
Special to me.

I

For
The way in which
You hold me.

I

Especially
In our late night
Sweet goodbye kiss.

I

In
The moments when I
Need you most.

More
Than three simple words
Shared between us.

Second Glance
Help me
Teach me

To create beauty out of simple words
To draw a picture in black and white

With nothing but the thoughts
That haunt me
Tease me
Tie me to a broken past.

Is it asking too much
Of a stranger
To hold me
With understanding eyes?
I hope you look for emotion in a stranger's eyes. Look for those people who live a life of meaning. Those people who hold your gaze, asking to be understood.
