Fire
Aiah Santos Feb 2014
The warmth feels good
It's comforting
It's warm
It's beautiful

You slowly get closer
Wanting more of the warmth
And soon it turns to heat

The heat starts to sting
It's a good kind of pain
Lingering
And still warm

Before you know it
It's burning
Consuming
Destroying

You pull back
And withdraw
As far as you can

The slowly inch back again

Whispers
Aiah Santos Dec 2013
a whisper
a still small voice
in the back of your mind

Soft
Yet so suggestive
"You will know things you have never known before"

It soon gets LOUDER
You can't ignore it anymore
"You will be GREAT"

The request becomes a COMMAND
IT STARTS TO CONTROL YOU
"DO IT"

And so you give in
You comply
You obey

It quiets down
Sated now that it's had its way
it is again a whisper in the back of your mind

Opposites
Aiah Santos Oct 2013
Darkness does not exist (technically speaking)
It is merely the absence f light
You cannot see Darkness
But you can not see Light

Light exists
It is all around
The world as we know it
Exists because of light

Light, even the smallest amount,
Can fill a whole room
With it's presence
Its very being

The thing is,
Without Darkness
Light has no meaning
It cannot be unseen

Darkness has to exist
To give meaning to Light
To show what it means
To be without Light

Because humans
In their very core
Need to be reminded
That without Light
There can only be Darkness

Love's a Butterfly
Aiah Santos Oct 2013
It was a short lived beauty
One that was seen
Appreciated
Beheld

They all loved to look at it
To marvel its intricacies
To see it flutter by
Bringing the spirit of spring with it

But spring cannot last forever
Nor can the butterfly
Summer would have to come
And the butterfly would have to go
