That Fateful Day
My entire life has been what it seems
Trying too hard to follow my dreams
To run off to college and never look back
Learn what they taught me and try not to crack
But when I met you, something shifted
Something close yet something distant
The world spun around me when it stayed still before
My destiny tugged and called from its core
So here I stood and watched in awe
Of the changes around me and wrote what I saw
But the bittersweet lights flickered and dimmed
And I no longer watched through rose colored rims
The flashes of that day when you collided
With the unfeeling waves where seagulls glided
And left me stuck in this world
When I would’ve much rather been the one hurled
Wherever you are, this one’s for you
I’ve gone on with life, that much is true
But my world will never be the same
Because you left me on that fateful day
So one last question and then I’m through
Why was I not enough for you?
