As I woke up crying,
And my dream faded away,
I thought I was dying
My thoughts were going astray

I grew up, my hair was grey,
My smile toothless, not my best day
I felt my stamina drain, my body was breathless
My fave wrinkled such a mess

A mountain of responsibility,
My child's school and college fee
Were the pin in the haystack,
My aching shoulders and inflamed back,
Were the least of my pains

College was fun, college was stimulating
The best time of my life, leaves me reminiscing
Playing in the mud at school,
Was perhaps way too cool,
Back in the good old days
These are time zones, life's funny ways
I was born in this world, free of regret and remorse,
I remember dying and seeing a light filled door
( Read from bottom to top as well)

In a world so crude and corrupt,
Our expectations are usually crushed, as people tend to be abrupt,
Who is there to look upto, in time of calamity and dire need?
They are the country's hope, uprooting all it's weeds

Army, a word that's short, yet demands respect,
From them, you can always expect,
Our lives, for them, are of greater significance than their very own,
Their brilliance and commitment are such, their every sacrifice is mourned

Days and weeks without food, water and family,
Be it a festival or a Sunday, they are never free,
They are answerable to none, for they are justice redefined,
For the country, they are equal to gods, never undermined

Pay your respect to the soldiers of fortune, stand tall and salute,
Let the patriotism flow within you, like the notes from a flute

As the sun rose up and the stars came down,
Morning dawned upon the town,
but the darkness didn't fade, as something came along,
To finally right the drought's wrong

Temperature dropping, birds chirping,
Thunder roared, as the aves beat wing after wing,
The scent of fresh mud clouded our nostrils,
and the crashing of water droplets had our ears filled

We ran as our footwear pounded the drenched land,
Only to notice the street dogs huddle under shelter,
Shaking themselves to get rid of body sand,
and expose their glossy fur

Soon enough, mother nature ended the delightful downpour,
Leaving us craving for more,
but the best part is the fact that monsoon has just begun,
So leave a smile on that face, for things are still great without the sun!!

We humans fear and believe in the almighty,
In times of dire need, go into a praying spree
The hypocrisy of it all,
Occurs when we commit the seven deadly sins

But is that all there is to them?
Or was there another, which wasn't included, decided in the immortal one's realm?
It was the eighth in the form of love,
It puts you in a sort of trance, so intense at times it can't be broken, even with a slap from a glove

It instils us with more power than we need,
Leading people to make it their creed
Something that creates us and also destroys,
Drowning us do deep within it, to the point we can't even hear our own voice,
If the right ones are showered with it, then go ahead and rejoice

But forget this not,
If the wrong ones are chosen, all you get at the end of it is rot,
So be wise in life and choose the right lot!

There are many delicacies one can relish,
Some crunch and some squish,
but my personal favourite: the berry
Be it a pink straw or a cherry

Their appearance is a feast for the eyes,
It's an addiction rather, one that can't be given up, no matter how hard i try
Upon taste, the nectar trickles right out,
Spreading it's flavours all about

Perhaps one of the rare combinations of taste and health,
Ensures a satisfied mind and body,
In certain cultures, considered a prospect of wealth,
Brought to you by something as simple as a tree

Go right ahead, pick red, pink or blue
For something so good to be true,
Is a boon
It's magnificence will be widespread, hopefully, soon!

Living organisms, the tiny specks in a humongous universe,
Are in their own ways, extremely diverse
But what connects them to one another?
The very thought of it's disappearance makes one shudder

Water, the solution of life
Without it, who knows how much we would have to strive
Quenches one's thirst, harbours aquatic beings,
The sheer magnitude of it's importance, sadly, not everyone is seeing

A leakage here, a broken pipe there,
Is causing this magical elixir to become scarce,
Oil spills from ship wrecks,
Leaves our oceans in an unresolvable mess

Why waste what gives us strength,
To save as much as possible, I'm hell bent
So are you with me or are you not?
For before god's gift to us disappears, we need to save it by giving our best shot!

Mother Earth, our home planet,
Gave us land to sow and oceans to explore,
But what have we given her, except pain and torture?
Oh, the very horror

There were times when and where we all were one,
Nothing could shake our foundation, not even the sun
But time did cast error after error,
And from the preservers, we became the terror

Wars were waged, forests were eradicated,
Instead of creating change, all we have done is waited
Species are becoming extinct, natural disasters are striking one after another,
Humans have become so self-obsessed, they have forgotten their duties and their own creators, their beloved mothers

So let's forget our differences and let go of the past,
For if we truly want to protect our future, we must act NOW and try to last!
