Sitting on a riverbank
Watching the stream flow
The leaves drop from trees
The leaves are all different

Some are beautiful

Some are funny

Some are silly

I watch for a few hours
None of them catch my eye
I fall asleep

I **** awake
Noticing one leaf
Floating downstream
In the center of the river
No way for me to catch it
I don't bother to try
As it continues floating
It reveals itself to be much closer to the edge
Than I thought
As it passes, it rests on the bank
Waiting for me
I pick it up
But
I accidentally drop it
Back into the river
Into an intangible position
It mingles with the other leaves
I try to watch the leaves floating in front of me now
But I watch the first leaf as it goes
I wonder if I'll see it again
I hope I do
I pray I don't
God, I hope I do
I forget the leaves in front of me
