Ukraine
Kingsley Feb 2022
UKRAINE

The blue eyed wolf, prowls to pounce.
Forgetting, he was once your brother,
Till all went asunder.
You are once a pack, till you part.
Why **** your brother?
To show you are the alpha?

What is to gain?
In this war of pain.
The west roars echoes of sanctions,
While fire and brimstone rains,
In once a peaceful Ukraine.

But, who is to blame?
The world is but a stage,
WARSAW or NATO, we are all at play,
Communism or capitalism, armed with script.
Projecting, echoes of our lines.
Hero or Villain, there is price to pay.

You may watch afar,
But remember the world is a stage.
Like characters, we are all at play.

My Valentine
Kingsley Feb 2018
MY VALENTINE

Roses are red, Violets are blue
To love, oh my heart is due
Stung by love, am down with flu

Together we stick like glue
A clock @ ten past two
So in love, I have no clue

In the morning your love sets like dew
At night my thought dwell on you
The smile and the shape of you
Burns out old flames and set anew

Evening when am out with my crew
Suffocated, your love turns me like *****
Surrounded by beauties but nothing to view
Addicted to you, call me a jew

It's valentine, oh I miss your stew
A thousand Roses, my heart pumps to you
I'll steal your heart, you can have me sued
In captive, hope you miss me too

Winter is here
Kingsley Jul 2017
WINTER IS HERE
Close your eyes, ignore the pain.
It's just a piece of paper and ink
Press your thumb and enjoy the gain
Sell your birthright without a blink
Eat the porridge and be a slave

The firewood of winter was used up in the summer
All for nothing, but a temporary comfort
Winter is here, the battle for the iron throne is set.
famine is in the land, with none to fight
Men and horses fell to hunger and cold of the time

The battle against corruption is on
Youths echo for a change of hands,
Yet, dine on porridge with the Lannisters
They want a king from the north
But they hail the Queen on the throne

You can't eat your cake and have it
But you can have your cake and eat it
Soon the battle for the iron throne will be here
With little finger and juicy  porridge to share
But beware.
The night is dark and full of terrors,
but the fire burns them all  away
It makes use of biblical illusion and a creative manipulation of the popular series GAME OF THRONES to pin point lackadaisical and non challant attitude of Youths and masses towards governance

Black dianond
Kingsley Jun 2017
Moulded with fine clay and sand
There my beauty ebony princess stand
My epitome of beauty, a symbol of perfection
An enigma worthy of my adulation

Your beauty a mystery even for the gods
Almighty  Sango, stunned by the spell of your grace
Pelts the sky with thunder; your beauty a source of wonder.
Son, crucified and forsaken by his father
For mortals fall and all seems asunder

Your ***** sways, and ravages the earth like a crazed tornado
Melting the hardest rock, your smile a consuming volcano
Leaving clusters of white diamonds, forged in an African furnace.
Saint turn sinner, lusting after your loveliness
First turn last, ****** by the medusa of your shape

You open your mouth to speak and,
Pharaoh with his army fall under your feet
Gazumped by your red lips, together with his fleet
And Venus watched from olympus your beauty at its peak
My Black diamond

IDeath in March
Kingsley Jun 2017
You left us sometimes in March
Leaving us in a cold dark world to match
Tears we shed, the world seems to be a dash

Sane brother turn lunatic as Kharon's boat was set for your flight
The tears of a mother, his bread winner gave up the fight
The quiet daughter turn noise maker, she couldn't bear the sight.
Innocent child smiled, all he wanted was jollof rice.

We remember how we had to start from the scratch
Battered and bruised, we forge ahead with all our might
Because life without you seems to be a mismatch
And all seems to be in darkness without your light

I remember waking up in the middle of the night
Making promises to get to your height
To achieve that you couldn't and be a light
To fulfill the legacy and carry on the torch to every fight

The make up artist
Kingsley Jun 2017
THE MAKE UP ARTIST

She staggers battered and bruised, neglected but subjected
A one time beauty, an enigma full of grace
But now a simpleton,a travesty admired by dogs and spied upon by scavengers
As she trudge on in line with debris leaving her shanties

Alas beckoned upon by a stranger, so charming but too good to be true
She enquires, are you another "sweetsayer" with vision 2030?
In defiance admist a covered nose saved from rotten breadth
He says I am a Make-up artist. A maker of beauties and  a moulder of youths

Lets go to my parlour of dreams
Let me wash the mud off your feet
Treat you like a queen so nice and sweet
Restore your youthfulness and bring the world under your feet
Put food on your table while i watch u sleep

She feign a sigh and wonder
Have met this stranger four years ago
With charming smile and lips glossed with blood of dreams  aborted at foetus
He asks if I'll need a manicure or pedicure
But will it cure the madness of of poverty and battered ego?

Follow me to my parlour of dreams he says
And let me watch away dirt off your feet
It's a poem that sets to castigate Leaders who make promises to the electorate but not fulfilling them

Love in June
Kingsley Jun 2017
LOVERS DELIGHT

My love stays in June
My heart beats in tunes
My soul yearns for u till noon
And my eyes hopes to see u soon

To see the beauty and radiant eyes that gives light to the dark moon
When the sun set, and I close my eyes
Image of your smile takes me high
And the touch of your lips send shivers like a ravaging monsoon
Then the memories we shared becomes the comfort of the day

It makes me to wonder when my sun will rise again
When sadness fades and love reign
Then I know it is when I see u again
Till then I'll close my eyes till my sun set to rise again

Karma is dead
Kingsley Jun 2017
KARMA IS DEAD

Let the sleeping dog lie
Let our greedy leaders "Lai"
Let the present and the future die
Let the old men and women cry

Let the sweat of the workers escape in flight
Let the wealth of our leaders reach new height
While the gallant youths fight
For crumbs and bones in delight

For karma has left us in plight
What goes around seems not in sight
At the end of the tunnel comes no light
And the future seems not to be bright

But let the youth cry out with all their might
Escape from the darkness of bad leadership of the night
And fight for what is our birthright
So we can escape from this menace like a kite
It's a political poem that criticises African leaders

— The End —
