I grab for it with desperation, but it’s always just outside my reach. I need it in my life like we need air to breathe. Seemingly impossible to obtain and even harder to maintain. I won’t stop trying to achieve it until my last gasp of breath escapes me.

I'm laying on the cool metal beams looking up at the stars. The clacking and vibrations are soothing. It reminds me of a lullaby calming an infant. I see the light come around the bend and I'm anxious to meet it. As the train approaches I expect to be afraid. Instead I feel the warm embrace of serenity. I'm ready. Suddenly I'm woken by a violent jolt. I'm confused. Confusion turns to anger as I understand none of it was real. I'm still here. Peaceful thoughts and feelings of tranquility are replaced by those of pain and sadness. I'm forced to go on. They say life is a gift. If so, I would like to return this one. It's defective and broken. I never asked for it anyways.

A man made concept to help make sense of things. Sunrise to sunset. When did it start? When does it end? Does it really matter? The world keeps spinning even after we’re gone. It is merely an illusion, yet we never seem to have enough of it
