You can not keep everything bottled up inside,
Expecting others to understand all you hide.
Please speak up when a need you have got,
Shame not those by putting on the spot.

Pride and silence, no wonder so many can’t deal,
Maturity is so much more than paying your bill.
No place for shame in God’s purpose of your life,
So stop hiding and creating drama and strife.

Self inflicted most problems are made and arise,
Expecting others to understand your silent cries.
Don’t count on others to jump in like a boss,
Take it to God in prayer and leave it at the cross.

My list is long…
Vicki Kilgore Jun 2020
I cried today without shedding a tear,
because weakness you did not need to fear.
It was for you I knew I had to be strong,
please understand my list is long.

If you feel all alone and nobody gives a care,
try to carry burdens others struggle to bare.
Nobody is perfect and can do it all wrong,
please understand my list is long.

I want to visit and show love to all in need,
time is not always on my side to do the deed.
I wake with good intentions trying to be strong,
please understand my list is long.

Spread so thin and no time for myself,
I put all my needs at the bottom of a shelf.
Bouncing place to place I feel like a ping pong,
please understand my list is long.

Being apart does not mean I am not there,
Thoughts and prayers, I can do from anywhere.
It is in my heart where you will always belong,
please understand my list is long.

Cherish the Thorn…
Vicki Kilgore Jan 2019
Oh, how beautiful a Rose in full bloom,
Test of time brings forth decay and gloom.
Soft delicate pedals a delight to admire,
Conditions and time, radiance slow to expire.
It is the beauty that catches your eyes,
Similarity to Satan’s deceit and lies.
Stem and thorns are all that survives,
Same as God’s love and promise for our lives.
Temporary beauty could not sustain,
What protected it is all that remain.
The rose and I created by the same,
Uniquely molded to honor His name.
A mission for God our purpose to be born,
Look past the beauty and cherish the thorn.

I just thought when you were in diapers it was tough,
Very little sleep, spit up, bumps and bruises were rough.

Starting to school was like sending you to the end of earth,
You were all mine and I had never had to share since birth.

School days, learning to roller skate, all the ups and downs,
Ballet, tap, and jazz oh how beautiful on stage in those gowns.

We survived the teen years with just a few spits and spats,
What I would give to go back when we still had those chats.

Graduation and work…you grew up in the blink of the eye,
Loving, caring, nurturing to all, on you I could always rely.

Watching you grow and learn through the good and bad,
The hardest part of being a mom is when your child is sad.

Bundle of joy you brought into this world with a baby girl,
Blonde hair and beautiful blue eyes made our hearts swirl.

Hard knocks, broken heart, and loss of loved ones dear,
Opened the door to prescription drugs and family fear.

From being on top to popping pills and playing the game,
Joining the lies and deceit of Satan without knowing shame.

Stubborn and always taking much pride in all that you do,
Not understanding that this life you are in is not the true you.

You called and ask me to come and get you out of jail,
My heart fell to the floor and I stated, “I cannot make bail”.

A mother’s nightmare brought to real life. I can only pray,
You know how much I love you even though you went astray.

Shame is no where near my heart, your pain is mine as well,
Life so good before the pills turned your life to a living hell.

My prayer has and will remain that my daughter returns to norm,
I can’t fix what is done but I will be here to weather the storm.

I love you my precious girl unconditionally and without scorn,
Trust God with all your heart to save you from life tattered and torn.

We will be here through it all and anxiously awaiting better days,
It is all up to you now to take the steps and change your ways.

He is in The Storms
Vicki Kilgore Aug 2018
Clouds are racing, the rain is raging,
The storm moves in a war its waging.

Take cover and pray on your knees,
Protect loved ones Lord from falling trees.

Hedge of protection we do ask for all,
It is in Your precious name we call.

The sound of thunder approaches near,
Praying will reassure no need for fear.

I know that You can calm this storm,
Bringing everything back to its norm.

At its worst when it kicks up the dust,
Fully trusting in You with faith is a must.

Look at that rainbow high in the sky,
A promise as beautiful as a butterfly.

Thank You Lord for mercy and grace,
It was not our time to see Your face.

Can’t Take it With You…
Vicki Kilgore Aug 2018
Keep your life simple and true,
Allowing Jesus to live through you.

Joy is a blessing counted at the end of day,
Never take for granted and always pray.

Caskets are not bank accounts in the end,
It will be left behind for others to spend.

Wealth is not counted by bars of gold,
It is the abundance of kindness I am told.

Angels unaware will be sent from above,
Jesus may be the one you helped with love.

Looks and money will exist no more,
Oh, how I look forward to Heaven’s door.

When we walk through the pearly gates,
Reuniting with loved ones will be so great.

Jesus lead the way to that promised land,
You purchased for us with pierced hands.

When I die there is only one thing I could leave that would bless everyone I know, can’t be money because it doesn’t reach far, can’t be materials things accumulated  because I have but little...It could only be my love for Jesus which is available to all  who call upon Him. Please don’t wait till I am dead to receive it, I would love
to see you enjoy it while I am breathing and praying.  VLK

Angels on your Pillows
Vicki Kilgore Aug 2018
Each night when I lay down and pray,
I thank God for another precious day.

Today my life or yours was not taken,
My faith is still strong just a bit shaken.

If I am blessed to wake in the morning light,
I will praise the Lord for another safe night.

Hedge of protection I pray over all,
That rest you enjoy again at nightfall.

May you enjoy the sunshine at daybreak,
Hedge of protection from any heartache.

May we appreciate and not take for granted,
All the seeds that God’s servants planted.

We are never promised another tomorrow,
So do not do anything that leaves sorrow.

Each day do acts of kindness with love,
So others see Jesus in you thereof.

Blessed tonight I lay me down to sleep,
Pray the Lord mine and your soul He keeps.

Time Heals...
Vicki Kilgore Aug 2018
When my loved one passed I sank in a sea,
Nobody can know what it’s like to be me.

Sitting here feeling all alone in pain,
Heartbroken and tears I cannot maintain.

Friends try to console with words so kind,
Someone who truly understands I cannot find.

Pain so excruciating when I hear your name,
Wanting to lash out and place the blame.

Why me Lord?  I want to scream and yell,
Being without you here is a living hell.

No, I am not just sitting here grieving,
Nothing makes sense I am not believing.

Time can not mend my broken heart,
My life you were the biggest part.

So, stop telling me soon it will get better,
Looking through photo’s I find an old letter.

I grasp it and hold it close to my chest,
Reading it I know you were the best.

You promised to love me till the end,
You kept your word and now I must mend.

Nothing will be the same without you dear,
Memories I have and keeping them near.

Time no matter the length heals all,
It knows exactly the depth you fall.

Time was created by our Father above,
He knows it best and sends His love.

There is Purpose...
Vicki Kilgore Aug 2018
Why are we all here on earth?
What was the purpose of our birth?

The Bible was written for all to see,
Instructions to follow for you and me.

God created the world full of life,
Wanting man to honor his wife.

A virtuous woman the Bible does teach,
Men who love God he has one for each.

Women you must desire a Godly spouse,
To love and honor the head of the house.

Children your parents you must obey,
Not letting this world lead you astray.

Satan is here on earth to create a glitch,
Poisoning minds and glorifying the rich.

Rebuke him for he is already defeated,
Fleeing when the name of Jesus is repeated.

Pray for those so messed up and lost,
It was for them as well He paid the cost.

Study His word and live it to a tee,
Rewards in Heaven soon we will see.

Why is my grandma still alive at ninety-seven,
Some days it seems she is only eleven.

Why did you trust me with her care,
Bathing, dressing, and combing her hair.

What is it here on earth she has left to do,
Could it be that she wants more time with me and you?

Bringing her to our humble home got protective services called.
Upon their investigation even they were appalled.

That a family member would even dare,
Seeing how much love we wanted to share.

You see some hearts grow very cold,
Toward those who have become old.

Put her in a nursing home on the governments dime,
We shall visit her on holidays and from time to time.

Feeble and weak they are of no use,
To those who took for granted, was simply abuse.

She cannot babysit, clean, or cook,
But she still loves to read a book.

Her mind is as sharp as a tack,
It is only her strength that she does lack.

Thank You Lord for my daddy on earth,
That loves his momma and knows her worth.

In me he instilled family values and love,
To cherish all the Blessing from above.

In his care I know she would be,
But years of hard work he is paying the fee.

He did his best to pay someone well,
So that at home she could always dwell.

But a fall and a hit to the head,
The doctors announced soon she would be dead.

Forty-seven weeks later she is still here,
Thanks to all the ones who lifted a prayer.

It was always her family she took such care,
Watching her with strangers I could not bare.

Thank You Lord for such a small part,
I will always treasure it deep in my heart.

Guide and direct me in the days ahead,
As she spends more time sleeping in bed.

Give me wisdom to comfort her too,
On the days she seems down and blue.

Strength to help get her from bed to chair,
for another fall she fears and cannot fair.

Thank You Lord for my husband so dear,
For his help, support, love, and calming all fear.

Our house is simple and very small,
But the love inside is wall to wall.

The laughter we share being shot by her toy gun,
Nothing can compare it is so much fun.

Each day with her is a blessing from above,
The memories we are making fills us with love.

When you come to take her from this earth,
Heaven bound we are assured by her salvation and rebirth.

Oh what a void we all shall feel,
Don’t take a day for granted for she is with us still.

It’s not the challenge of caring for her that I fear,
But the regrets of missing out on someone so dear.

Some days are really really good,
Other days we struggle with a bad mood.

One thing I can say without a doubt,
Regrets I will have none because I did not miss out.

Beautiful is not a word this world would use to describe me,
But you see God sent His only Begotten Son to die on a tree.

Because He found me worthy of His love not by sight,
But because He knew my heart was true and bright.

People can be so cruel with words their mouths do spout,
Making us feel so ugly, unloved, and lonely inside and out.

Do not let what worldly human beings do or say,
Lead your path, for they will only keep you astray.

Building themselves up at your expense,
Straddling they are a very dangerous fence.

For God says it’s better to be cold or hot,
Lukewarm in Heaven He will know you not.

Look not in the mirror but pray in your heart,
That others see Jesus in you not just the outer part.

He was not alone that day at Calvary you see,
I was with Him when He shed His blood for me.

Forgiven of all my sins before I was ever born,
Worthy of His love with each piercing thorn.

Sticks and stones may break my bones into,
But unkind words will help me turn away from you.

We can all be a Blessing to others with Godly love,
It is His desire to someday see us together above.

So before anger, jealousy, and hate you speak,
Get on your knees and let it be Jesus you seek.

Know the damage a cruel word can create,
May just be your inescapable adverse fate.

Forgive them Father for they know not what they do,
Is my daily prayer for this broken world and you!

Free Will is a Big Deal
Vicki Kilgore Aug 2018
Just what on earth do you really gain?
By inflicting and causing so much pain.

Oh, how it breaks your momma’s heart,
To see you acting a fool not being smart.

Dope, alcohol, and popping pills,
You seek them all for cheap thrills.

Thugs for friends are your family now,
To be like them and throw in the towel.

Life on the street they make look so neat,
Your belly rumbles and can’t sleep for lack of meat.

Hungry and jobless leaves you to steal,
From hardworking people with weapons you conceal.

Wait! Where are they all at now you do scream?
Did they run away when locked up or is it a dream?

Before the judge in the courtroom you look around,
None of your so called **** family are found.

Who is that praying and wiping a tear?
How can my momma still love me so dear?

Cards and letters I get but a few,
Prayers from momma on starting anew.

How Jesus died on a cross for my sin,
He spared my life by placing me in the pen.

In my reply to her letter I did write,
Sweet momma on my knees I pray each night.

Thanking Him for loving me enough to sacrifice His life,
And forgiveness for stabbing a man with a knife.

I have given my life to The Lord up high,
And momma I will see you in Heaven when I die.

Fill My Void With The Lord
Vicki Kilgore Aug 2018
Losing a loved one is not the hardest part,
It’s not being close to them that breaks our heart.

Knowledge that they are with The Lord makes us glad,
Not knowing when we will see them again that we are so sad.

Planning a trip to visit them in Heaven we cannot make plans,
Purchased thru Christ a one way ticket is in God’s hands.

Although the pain of missing them is hard to bare,
It is their loved ones here they would want us to take care.

Tears they will understand because it is all from love,
No more sorrow or pain I am happy with Jesus above.

Tell your children about me each and every day,
Lead them to Jesus and teach them to pray.

It is my joy my babies again to see that I long for,
Fill my void with The Lord and bring them to Heaven’s door.

Beautiful Women
Vicki Kilgore Aug 2018
Some of the most beautiful women I know,
Are full of kindness and have a gentle soul.

The world says you have to be a model sort,
So you feel viewed as ugly, fat, thin, tall, or short.

These beautiful women I speak of have hearts of gold,
And a love that could never ever be bought or sold.

My wish for you all during the upcoming year,
Is you see your beauty we all love so dear.

Your worth is not based on height, weight, or looks,
Can’t be changed in a beauty shop or by reading books.

You do without so that others may have more,
Even when you are tired, weak, and feeling poor.

The world without you would be dark and cold,
True beauty is in those of you with hearts of gold.

Thank you for touching my life with a hug or smile,
For taking the time and always going that extra mile.

I love and cherish you all just as you are,
Beauty comes from within and yours is the best by far.

God Blesses Love...
Vicki Kilgore Aug 2018
Find the beauty and your worth deep inside your heart,
To enhance a relationship with the one you make part.

Actions speak louder than words you will surely learn,
Because love, trust, and respect must be earned.

No rush!  Take time getting to know someone well,
You don’t want a marriage that you argue and yell.

Always put God first and it will be blessed from above,
When you meet the right one you will feel the love.

Good times or bad you always know they will be near,
No matter your appearance they make you feel dear.

Love you can count on with romance full of affection,
No doubts ever that you made the right connection.

Cherish each other and give more than you take,
The bond will grow over time and never break.

A beautiful relationship so full of awe and wonder,
What God joins together no man can put asunder.

Rumor Stop's Here
Vicki Kilgore Aug 2018
I don’t want to talk about your sister,
Nor hear about someone’s secret mister.

I don’t even care what your neighbor did,
Grow up and stop acting like a foolish kid.

They can dress in green and act like an elf,
I will not answer for anyone except myself.

You call on the phone to say did you hear,
When I say I don’t need to, I mean it dear.

Don’t stand on my lawn or lean on my fence,
Talking about others not there for defense.

I hear enough rumors on myself not true,
I realize I should never listen to anyone or you.

My children are older and out on their own,
At me cast no stone for they are now grown.

Rumors break my heart and make me feel ill,
Different strokes for different folks is free will.

I try to live my life like judgement day is near,
No need for gossip or lies bending my ear.

Heaven or Hell is right around the bend,
The one and true judge will rule at the end.

Do as you wish and leave me out in the cold,
At the pearly gates I desire to stand bold.

I pray those who feel they are above them all,
Our sins will be judged at the final curtain call.

We will stand one by one before the Master,
Pray for those that you feel their life is a disaster.

Blood is Thicker Than Water
Vicki Kilgore Aug 2018
Blood is thicker than water as youth we were told,
But families are divided and their veins run so cold.

Funerals seem to be the only time they gather or talk,
Hard times are the only time on your door they knock.

From birth was taught family values and love implanted,
Feeling alone, unappreciated, and so taken for granted.

Could it possibly be they are feeling the same as me,
A visit, phone call, or text message could be the key.

They say I love you and to please call if ever in need,
Love from family is what my heart desires indeed.

Oh, how I miss my grandma cooking in the kitchen,
Always a blessing to gather and see everyone pitch in.

We shamefully have not carried on the traditions,
Of our loved ones gone before us full of ambitions.

Pride was instilled to honor thy father and mother,
To stand behind and support your sister and brother.

Neighbors and strangers did our family they make part,
Love not based on material things but from a true heart.

So get off your high horse and get over your ego trip,
It is time to pull together and bring back the kinship.

Love to you all and may you pick up the phone,
Don’t wait, they can not answer once ashes and bone.

Beauty or Beast
Vicki Kilgore Aug 2018
Heartless people cannot be reached with words,
Tongue and actions are their sharpest swords.

They belittle and lie on those who love them most,
Starving for attention and themselves they must boast.

All that you do to love and make them happy is in vain,
They only want what they can get and leave you in pain.

Never seeing their own wrong doing they fabricate lies,
Saying things so untrue looking you straight in the eyes.

Watch out unsuspecting one for the lion is on the hunt,
It will not be long until someone else will be out front.

Hold your head up high for the story remains the same,
Only this time it will not be tarnishing your good name.

Warning to you all that have not seen what it can do,
Wild animals feed on prey and don’t care about who.

Lacking emotion will say the things you want to hear,
Getting everything wanted or they kick you to the rear.

Be careful and don’t judge the book by the cover,
It has been altered to appear as a wonderful lover.

Beauty on the outside but Beast to the heartless core,
Beware of both for they are working together to score.

What Went Wrong
Vicki Kilgore Aug 2018
Did you stop to think what it would do?
To your body and mind did you have a clue.

While you were high and speeding,
Family hearts were crying and pleading.

Please oh please stop doing the drugs,
A mother’s heart strings feeling the tugs.

Put it at the foot of the cross they pled,
All Satan’s deceitful lies filling your head.

Stop! Stop! What have you done?
What a tangled mess your life has spun.

On the news they told of a fatal drug bust,
Praying for all involved, In God I trust.

Not knowing where you are, where to look,
When the phone rang my body shook.

It is so hard seeing you in that hospital bed,
Monitors, tubes, and thankful your not dead.

Gunshot barely missed the main artery they say,
Time flashed back to watching you run and play.

Precious child how did we get here so fast,
Why can’t we start over and go back in the past?

Watching the clock surgery is taking so long,
Could something really bad have gone wrong?

The room is closing in and tears continue to flow,
Precious Lord the outcome only you know.

Hours go by with no news on your condition,
I prayed until I seen a smile from the physician.

It was God that spared your life he said,
When you arrived barely hanging by a thread.

I thanked the doctor and praised The Lord,
For your recovery we all prayed in one accord.

Second chances are not always given to all,
Search out Jesus and on your knees fall.

He has watched over you and saved your life,
It is your choice now to avoid the strife.

Jesus has a wonderful life for you planned,
Reach out to him as He embraces your hand.

Forgive Me Lord...
Vicki Kilgore Aug 2018
When my heart aches and feels squeezed,
Choked up and finding it so difficult to breathe.

Causing my eyes to overflow with tear drops,
Do all I can, but the ungratefulness never stops.

I want so much to live a life of a virtuous woman,
It’s a daily struggle, forgive me Lord for I am human.

I beg You to reach out and take me by my hand,
Precious Lord take me to that glorious promised land,

I want to go home to no more sadness or grief,
Seeing those that have gone before will be such relief.

Not mine will be done here in this unforsaken place,
But, Your will that be done no matter the trials I face.

My plea is for those who use, abuse, and are so unkind,
You place a burden on their hearts to others not be blind.

I lack sympathy for those who choose not to live for you,
Forgive me Lord, help me to lead them for you to rescue.

Only in You will they be forgiven and find saving grace,
That is my precious hope before I depart from this place.

Give us all the love of our Father with eyes of a child,
So that unto others our temper and anger becomes mild.

Living with and loving an addict is no fun,
Protecting your stuff with a loaded gun.

Locking doors normally left open wide,
Everything valuable now you must hide.

Oh, how the lies that fooled you into doing bad,
Now the same spew from you and make me sad.

One good day or deed and you expect respect,
But consistency is far from the life you wrecked.

Praying each day and night you see the light,
Come back home my love from this flight.

Time can heal the past you hate so much,
Let us embrace you with our loving touch.

Stay away from those who lead you astray,
Friends only if you worked or stole for pay.

The pills made you feel better and worse,
Much harm, emptying your pockets or purse.

Nothing good can come from an addict’s life,
Look in the world at all the turmoil and strife.

Now you stare out through those bars,
Cold steel, hard cot, and so many scars.

Was you thinking at all while you were high,
Family, friends and loved ones you did deny.

Nobody telling you what to do was your goal,
Accomplishing only Satan ruling your soul.

Jesus made a way when He died on that cross,
No matter your past He loves all that are lost.

Shedding His blood so you could be set free,
To become all that He really needs you to be.

No matter what you have done in the past,
It is available to all those who simply asked.

Many tears I have shed in my nightly prayers,
Asking protection and that you sort out affairs.

Now it is time for you to choose the right path,
Don’t let Satan continue to unleash his wrath.

It is only Satan’s voice that leads to despair,
And begs you to remain in his deceitful snare.

Cover your ears, do not let the lies enter in,
Jesus is the only way to be forgiven of sin.
