The Keen, Old Gunshot
As she slowly wiped off her tears
He stood tall, confronting all our fears
A mother of a warrior stood there and cried
Welcomed by thoughts that her son could have died
He lives a life judged by the size of his heart
A life where suddenly, everyone falls apart
“I’ll be there till the end” was his favourite line
Because he lived a life that was consoled by a bottle of wine
He finished each day with a simple “cheers”
Every second counts, especially with the peers
And as he moves on to talk about his day
he remembers that tomorrow again, he’ll pave their way
Each sunset could be his last
But here you serve, for everything you’ve left past
Over here he puts on his medals with pride
Each one of them signifying a thrilling experience in life
Over here nothing mattered more than his uniform
That got more comfort than him, in his little dorm
In another tiny corner, lay a picture of his wife
Who showed him another angle to his beautiful life
And through all of this, he loves his duty
Even with all the pain, military life has its own beauty
It’s a life that can never be topped;
with Respect that can never be dropped
And today, as he looks back at his academy days
Remembering how he learned about his future in all possible ways
He’ll think of those moments as the best days of his time
because Military life surely got him in his absolute prime
If there’s one thing that everyone should take back
With a determination that promises to never lack,
Then that is that nothing in the world comes easy
And If you choose this path, it isn’t all that breezy
Growing up in a family that predominantly served in the military, the sole topic of the armed forces has always been so intriguing! A vision that goes far far far beyond the naked eye ...
