It is like a hurricane through a town.
It is magic in the mountain.
It whispers “Listen to what I have to say,
Don’t forget me.”
It kicks like a kangaroo
Through the front door of your home.
It walks along the seashore
Whispering sweet nothings.
It rescues the sailor out of the rainstorm.
It sits on the throne in the middle of a castle
Commanding attention.
It is the gentle twinkling of a wind chime in the wilderness.
It is a sunflower following the sun
Like the night follows day.
It leaps out of the nest
Searching for its mother.
It stands on top of the tower screaming
“Listen to my riddles, find my answers.”
It is the fog dancing through the mountaintops.
It is paint across a canvas.
It is ink leaving my thoughts permanently engraved
Into the lines of this paper.

Tell me again.
Tell me how my choice doesn't matter.
Tell me that abortion should be illegal.
Tell me that my body is "just a host".
Tell me again.
Tell me I'm being dramatic for being scared to walk alone.
Tell me that I shouldn't wear that slightly revealing outfit.
Tell me that you think I'm on my period.
Tell me again.
Tell me I'm too fat.
Tell me I need to lose weight.
Tell me I'm being "too flirty".
Tell me again.
Tell me I'm pretty... But.
Tell me I'm too loud.
Tell me I'm too emotional.
Tell me again.
Tell me I'm "too pretty to be sad".
Tell me I have a great "***".
Tell me I've got a "nice rack".
Tell me again.
Tell me how exactly I can be "more feminine".
Tell me I'm "too excited".
Tell me I wouldn't understand because I'm a woman.
Tell me again.
Tell me I'm supposed to be in the kitchen.
Tell me to make you a sandwich.
Tell me I should "be at home" with the kids.
Tell me again.
Tell me I did good "for a woman".
Tell me I'm pretty "for a fat girl".
Tell me that's not ladylike.
Tell me again.
Tell me it's a "man's job".
Tell me I gained weight.
Tell me I shouldn't be afraid of the dark.
Tell me again.
Tell me how "****" I am like my looks are all that matters.
Tell me I'm smart "for a girl".
Tell me I'm ugly.
Tell me again.
Please tell me all of these things.
So I can tell you
Why you're wrong.
Because listen.
My choice does matter.
Abortion won't end because you make it illegal, it will just make it dangerous.
My body creates human beings.
I'm scared to walk alone because I don't know if that guy behind me is walking the same way as me or following me.
I can wear whatever I want.
Maybe I am on my period, doesn't mean that's why I want to punch you.
My body is perfect.
I will lose weight when It becomes unhealthy.
I'm not flirting, I'm just being nice.
I'm just pretty, no buts.
I'm loud because otherwise, you won't listen.
I'm emotional because I'm hurt.
I'm allowed to be sad no matter how pretty I am.
I do have a great "***", thanks for noticing, now be on your way.
I do have a "nice rack", keep your eyes off of them.
I am feminine enough.
I'm excited because I am doing something with myself, unlike some of us.
I can understand if you take the time to explain.
You can cook your own dinner.
I will not make you one more sandwich.
I will work to support myself.
I just did good, not "for a woman".
I'm just pretty, not "for a fat girl".
I don't care if it's "not ladylike".
It's just a job, anyone can do it.
So what if I gained weight?
I'm not afraid of the dark, I'm afraid of what lies within it.
My looks are only a small part of me.
I'm just smart, not "for a girl".
I am not ugly,
I am beautiful.
