In the dark
Deepika Prasad May 2020
I clear and collect the rubble
That crumbled castles have left behind
Dreams that are seen amid sunshine
Go frightfully cold in the still night

Hurting my presence,dreading my absence
My blanket shields me from the cold stares
My pillow lays my fears to rest
And in the dark,I start my quest

Footprints
Deepika Prasad May 2020
A bare house in the middle of nowhere
Came many acquaintances, tired yet merry
They'd come in the spring and summer
And leave when they were no longer shy and weary

He was the only one who returned during a terrible storm
Through the windows ,you could see the snow fall
He started a fire to keep us warm
I told him how I felt like a puppet,he called me a doll

I grew fond of the storyteller and his stories
He made me feel like I should sprout wings and fly
He was entertained by my many queries
I thought he saw more in me than what meets the eye

One day he quietly walked out the door
Through the window you could see the storm clear
I looked at his footprints in the damp snow
And told myself that they would soon disappear

Roar
Deepika Prasad May 2020
Words spoken
I hear them echo
Not even a worthy sound
Ceilings that are broken
And everything that follows
Seem overwhelming to someone underground

Bit by bit my heart sinks
Into uneasy hollow despair
Second after second the clock ticks
And I am yet again left standing nowhere

The shattered ground
The blazing sky
And voices scream aloud
It bites and gnaws
And tears apart my very core
Revealing nothing but my flaws

A shattered mirror place before
What seems like mistaken light
An unclear image takes its form
Making a whisper of my roar

A summer visage
Deepika Prasad May 2020
Clear beginnings floating in blue
Lurking into the deeper tint of a winter hue
Tears have been wiped, the sky so had wept
A playful, paler less devastating playmate in had crept

Into the clear blue and slowly away
The sun rose and made it brighter a day
All the wings have flown, all the birds are up
Awaiting their next slumber in no less than a plentiful chirrup

Although everything is well seen ,some remain quietly hidden
The fear of the bitter cold pouncing up in all of a sudden
Enticing ,entangling everything in extreme rage
Remain unknown behind the mellow awakening of a summer visage
