Pushing, Pulling
Giving, Taking
Loving, Hating

I breathe in,
You breathe out.
I lean in,
You pull back.
You aver your gaze,
I try to hold yours.

Up and down,
In and out,

Fast, Slow.
Hard, Soft,
Fading in, Fading out

Pushing, Pulling
Giving, Taking
Loving, Hating

There is something special that confuses me,
A concept that has...
Little point, it seems

How can we ache so much...
But still turn our cheek?

Maybe it's to save effort?

Maybe it's to save time?

Maybe it's just because we are too tired...

But,

Maybe...

Maybe it's because we see their side,
Maybe it's because we know what they feel like,
Maybe it's because we felt exactly the same once,
And maybe it's just because we want to.

Humanity is a funny thing...
You can't have ups without the downs;
Loneliness births Fulfillment..
Apathy births Passion..
Pain births Joy

And Love births Love...

I don't know you, but I love you,
And that's why..
I forgive you

I know not of a soldier who can sleep,
On a night before he raises arms.

His steady breathing penetrates the silence

He can still feel the laughter in his throat,
The taste of bourbon on his breathe,
The remnants of tears in his eyes,

Everything is still now.

The flutter of thoughts dance around the room,
All eyes gaze at the ceiling,
But,
No one is present.

Wondering, Hoping, Praying..
Resolution, Anger, Fear..
Guilt, Shame, Acceptance..

Peace...

Isn't that all we really wanted?
