When I was young...
Madison Nov 2017
When you were a young child
Everything was a smear of happiness, a dream come true and the only monsters you were afraid of were under your bed and in your wardrobe.

But now, as you grow old,
You realise that everything is slow and drags along like thick, black tar and the real monsters were inside your head and not even your once loved stuffed animals can comfort you anymore.

I am broken
Madison Nov 2017
i am broken
I have been broken by tumbling sentences that fall out of people's mouths in a hurry when they've been hurt.
I have been broken by a simple act of inconsistency, whether it be missing a kiss at the end of a text or putting your shopping bag down to hard.

I have been stitched back together with lyrics of my favourite songs and snippets of my favourite movie clips and comforting sentences whispered by friend at 4:00am

So, be careful with me because I am fragile like glass, I break and eventually I shatter.
This is really **** but I wanted to write something so yeah

Fallen Angels
Madison Nov 2017
We think shooting stars are beautiful, delicate rarities flying down from an infinite abyss just to cross a meaningless sky with no real end

But no

They are fallen angels, to powerful to listen to any of gods word and to full of hatred to retrieve their broken halo from their fellow brothers and sisters

We are taught from a young age stars are full of life and energetic, especially shooting ones but we are never taught that they are the epitome rebelliousness and destruction and will live to see our world self destruct and collapse in on itself and form a desolating black hole, destined to **** every piece of hope up for itself

I fell in love with an angel
His soft hand curved around my cheek,
Told me he loved me
He turned my freckles into constellations and my soul into flowers
He laid his halo upon my head, told me I was beautiful,
One day, he graced me with a broken heart.
It was lightning and poisoned silver,
Everything he said he was not,
He told me he was crafted from marble and the grace of god.
I believed him.
Oh, how I loved him.
He told me he would **** me with eternal melancholy
I told him,
Burn those eyes blue
Spread your broken wings and destroy me
And he did
He left
I fell in love with an angel

You walk down the pathway of grass
Despite it raining, the grass is greener then the stolen emeralds in your mothers porcelain jewellery box
Your oversized boots leak but you wouldn't dare throw them away due to memories that have been stored away into their broken leather and frayed laces that you can't afford to repair, let alone replace
And as you walk, you realise:
You are not meant to be here

Replaced with gold seams
Her aspirations are smashed,
Repaired with black dreams

You ripped out my starless eyes and weeped when the sun didn't set that night

I've painted my soul
I've sketched my heart
And I'm praying nothing will fall apart
