A figure of authority, a mask of might
Hides behind a title, and a coward’s fright
Shouting at the innocent, with a voice so bold
But trembles at the thought, of facing the truth to be told

Their words are laced with venom, their actions cold as stone
Leaving scars that linger, long after the moment’s gone
But I see through the façade, the fear that they conceal
A coward’s heart beats weakly, beneath their pompous reveal

I refuse to sign, the papers of shame
I’ll stand up to the bully, and play the coward’s game
You threaten me with dismissal, with a voice so loud and clear
But I’ll take my stand, and show you what courage looks like, my dear

I’ll face the man who’s holding my pay
And demand the truth, in a voice that’s clear and gray
You may try to fire me, but I’ll not be tamed
For I know that courage, is not just a word, but a flame

That burns within my soul, a fire that never fades
Guiding me through darkness, and the coward’s charades
I’ll not be silenced, I’ll not be swayed
For I know that truth and justice, will find their way

You may have power, but I have a voice
A voice that speaks for justice, and a righteous choice
I’ll use it to confront, the coward’s disguise
And bring to light, the truth that they’ve denied

The coward’s mask will crack, the truth will be revealed
And those who stood up tall, will be the ones who are healed
Their courage will inspire, and their hearts will be free
And the world will be a better place, for all humanity
Unmasking the truth. I just penned a scathing poem about the cowardice that often hides behind power. After being threatened and bullied by someone who thought they'd intimidate me into submission, I refused to back down. This poem is my defiant stand against the abuse of authority and the silence that enables it. Read it and feel the fire.
A child’s heart is tender and pure,
A canvas waiting to be sure,
Of love and care, of gentle touch,
A sense of belonging, a love to clutch.

When we whisper “I love you” in their ear,
We build a shield, a protection dear,
From strangers’ smiles, from false delight,
A child’s heart beats strong, with love’s pure light.

A father’s words, a mother’s tone,
Can guard their child, and make them known,
A sense of worth, a sense of pride,
A child who knows they’re loved, will never hide.

The world may try, with cunning guile,
To lure them in, with a wicked smile,
But a child who’s loved, who’s heard the truth,
Will stand strong, with a heart of youth.

Their heart is safe, their soul is free,
When love is spoken, wild and carefree,
No stranger’s words can pierce their heart,
When filled with love, they’ll never depart.

So let us tell them, every single day,
“I love you, child, in every way,”
For in those words, we give them might,
To face the world, with love’s pure light.

And as they grow, with each passing year,
May love’s foundation, forever be clear,
A guiding star, that shines so bright,
Illuminating their path, through day and night.
In 'A Shield of Love,' I wanted to highlight the significance of unconditional love and support in a child's life. The poem explores how a child's heart can be protected and nurtured through the simple yet profound words 'I love you.' By emphasizing the importance of love, care, and belonging, I hope to inspire parents, caregivers, and guardians to prioritize building a strong foundation of love and trust with their children. This foundation will serve as a shield, protecting them from the challenges and uncertainties of the world, and empowering them to grow into confident, resilient, and compassionate individuals.
