Lighthouse
Chris Langridge Sep 2019
Stormy waters lash the boat
The thing furthest from your mind, hope
Monsters strike the hull
The cacophany broken by the cry of a gull
A light in the dark, drives the horror away
A lone sentinel at the shore guides the way
A beacon in the darkness, a pillar of hope
A vestige of happiness, awoke

Her

Her
Eyes like galaxies, I long to stare into their depths
Skin like alabaster, I long to caress it like silk
Heart like gold, I long to hold it in my hands

I see the world in your soul, such passion and grace
An inspiration, a reason to do better
My life is enriched, made joyful with your light

A place in my heart, reserved for you
A place in yours, what I aspire for
You are my halcyon days, quelling the storm in my soul

Us
Chris Langridge Sep 2019
Us
In the beginning was the word, and the word was with God
Now the word is with Us
The old gods are no more, replaced by logic and rod

The word has no meaning, no rhyme nor reason
Its power diminished by Us
The wisdom of the past, no longer in season

Where once was faith, now nothing but a memory
No longer of use to Us
Our stoicism, lost in this new world of reverie

This new century, like none that have come before
New challenges and experiences for Us
The problems of this world, we must learn not to ignore

— The End —
