To Burn
Melrose Moroe Nov 2015
Dancing with a waxy partner
My heat is precious, smoke an old friend
The loneliness closes in, smothering me
Until cold snuffs me out
Afraid of the nothingness
I need my warmth, my fleeting existence
To share my waltz with the world
I want to be free, to burn forever
But I am trapped in a transparent cage

I am the candle flame

Sleep
Melrose Moroe Nov 2015
Tired body
Melting dreams
Don't close your eyes
Not what it seems

For when you drift
Into that realm
You are not safe
be overwhelmed

Shadow steals
Creeps up your skin
Don't close your eyes
Where have you been

For when you rest
Naive and safe
Beware, beware
Of your new fate

A fire burns
Beneath your lids
Curse of sleep
The dead forbid

Silent
Melrose Moroe Nov 2015
Harrowing silence
lone tear falls in defiance
the presence of his absence

The blood-ridden battle
of my heart which unravels
the poison apple

Alone with my memories
Returning to haunt me
Loneliness

— The End —
