Like Achilles in a garden,
Or Hektor fleeing to distant lands.
A leaf, a trunk, and an acorn all serve a purpose,
but if they were interchanged,
the tree would collapse.
A leaf could not bear the weight of the tree,
a trunk could not reproduce generations of trees,
and an acorn could not flow and twist in the breeze.
So, too, like the parts of a tree
we are destined for a specific moment.
To seize that moment becomes a matter of choice.
Did Achilles flee to a prosperous life
Or pursue glory?
But we are helpless to fate’s call, and succumb to our purpose
