Sing in me Oh ye Ancient muse
And tell a story through me
My mouth for yours
Make me a worthy instrument

Plant in me the sage's seed
Let the teary clouds nurture for growth
Mortals die of ancient hunger
Feed the world through me I pray

Owners of ancient wisdoms
Custodians of hidden truth
Hold not back the light
Nor cease the moon from me

My heart is open
Take my hands, ink my pen
Build out of these blank papers
The Eight wonders of the world

Bara roams our streets
The ubiquitous grins
Vultures circles our skies
Our land painted in reds
The Folly laughs

Bara,
Okunrin kukuru, Okunrin gogoro
Okunrin peke bi ori atana
Esu abani woran bi a orida
A yi kondu seyin eleyin
O soro ana di moran
Koju ti mo.

Bara Visits
Our water, turned sour
His moist hands, he dips in our meal
Down he gulps our share
Hungry he leaves us.

Egunugun keeps watch
Praying to Bara for more
Orisanla, wisdom we pray for
To navigate through these tough times
For Bara has come to stay.
