You, in those bright red boots on hard grey,
I envy you.
As you walk past the four-sided frame, your day is
better than mine.

While my feet are on this dry teal blue and white,
My world is a four walled cage.
My eyes- the small sheet of glass that sits by me.

As you walk away with your boots on those dead grey stone,
I realize, The thing that divides me and you,
Is not the distance nor these walls.

It's only that the air around me is heavy while
the same air carries you along on gentle sweeps.

That grey road is familiar to me.
I believe, I walked on those not too long ago.
As they say,
the roads to our prisons are only too familiar.

So, You, in those bright red boots on hard grey,
I envy you, as i peer through the last light
from these fallen timbers that leads me
down to sleep.

I hate this world with its sorrow builds
And narrow is the ground
To left and right my neck tilts
Until my every sigh- a hound’s
I hate this world with many a leaf,
a shadow and a frown
Cover me and shame me majestic like a Mount
I hate this world with its blue skies
Blank & placid,
even as it pours down

I dislike this place for here I am not found
My mind a wandering thief, a bloodied hand & crown
My heart an upturned stone lowly beyond every sound

Still sky you’ve heard the cry,
Heaven echoing with its drums;
Sound of the drizzling in the dark,
Stealthy, quavering drops so bright,
Lifts my soul so high and light.

The ground covered in moonlight
Soft strokes of the gentle sky.
The clouds cluster to bring Elysium the paradise-so nigh!
Colourless light shimmer in the trees
Soft spoken as she, receives life
her requital, the languishing liaison.

dye these strands of uncertainty,
dreary drapes of misery
gargoyles to love, life and eulogy
a fortune to all those who live in this moment
the one who hears this silent symphony,
the one who witnesses this meeting

when eyes are covered dark and sightless
when the silent drops ushers into the vials of nature
tears and the night’s sonata covering the divide
where earth meets the sky, iridescent black covering our eyes
when two sundry solitude entities attains unity-
when all was dark.

Wish this city's smog doesn’t settle in
Wish these noises don’t creep in
Making my day, my mood a hectic hue
Broken hearts, love affairs and office tid-bits
Wish I’d peacefully for one day stand in a queue
And not be bogged down by Monday morning blues

But if all these scenery is taken away
Would there be a city, a town or bed to lay
To oust our shadowed yearnings- we have
turned to the cluster and clangs.

The rush, the reverberant noise, the raucous sounds,
the adrenaline pumping adventures serving as a palliative
to needs within us now suppressed
could we for once be silent and still
and ask amongst ourselves
“why did we our peace ****?”

On these roads we walk
seamless paths from one to another
we do up, put on, dress up, take off
Never minding our cuts and creases
Till our brown veins become vain
And our muddied hands reach our faces.

My mother’s dress was beautiful
like stars
Iridescent pearls were carved,
fashioned into the fabric.
It was beautiful like dyed black
with shimmering tints.

But Now, We put up, give in, take apart and finally
break out
from those that dry our dreams
and put us into the cup of their amber hands.

I will not cry nor let my blood be your chai.
Even if the orange sun so bright scales every wall
The brown earth will never forget its scars
until its shadows become stars.

Painted scrolls in my hand
Painting brushes in my palm
Coloured hands and coloured faces?
Never filled my empty spaces

Took the blue from the sky?
Took the hazel from her eyes
Lover’s dreams colour my mind?
Fading treasures I can’t find

It’s all fading away
Different strokes of blackened ash

I know when you’re not here
‘Cause life turns old and grey
I know when you’re not here
I’m left empty with nothing to say
