Thinkful Wishing
Michael Mar 2018
Fires at midnight, Oceans of black light
Visions
Infecting my dreams with those Faery Tale wishes
And I start to wonder
What makes it real?
How can I know
When true love draws near?
Time is so tortuous, waiting and wanting
Hourglass spun backwards, Sand flowing upwards
Higher and higher
Into endless oblivion

Constellations, Revelations
Struggling for a bit of patience
Those lonely times when I
Stare at the sky
Squinting hard to see the future
A shooting star can’t give the answer
But maybe it could bring some luck
I search
For my reflection in the mirror
But I’m lost forever
On the other side

A touch of power, the Witching Hour
Destiny singing
In the aqua moonlight
But what if destiny
Goes astray?
When the opportunity passes by
And that one person before our eyes
For weeks or years we never realize
Till every moment’s gone away
One chance at magic
And the spell fails

Castles come crashing, dreams go on dying
Clouds keep amassing, no silver lining
I’m sometimes afraid
There’s no fate at all
No magic
No meant to be; No cards
It’s not written in the stars
Just an empty illusion
Teasing with its taste of Heaven
A perfect impression
Of nothing at all

Lightning and pain, Tears in the rain
Those shattered promises cast from above
What of True Love?
The kind that turns your soul inside out
With desperate longing
Rips apart your sense of belonging
Endlessly keeping you
Awake at night, dreaming all day
Panic stabbing when it might be lost
Joy erupting when it might be real
Is there no such thing?

Crescent full spun, eclipsing the Sun
Am I the only one?
There must be someone out there
Who never
Looks the future in the face
Who listens for the sweetest whisper
Who always feels a bit out of place
There must be, somewhere, some way
But Somewhere isn’t on my map
And no calendar is marked with Someday
And I can’t really know

It’s all just foolish scheming
Thinkful wishing, Star-lit dreaming
And I’m tired, lost without a prayer
And I’m tired of the game
Cause games
Are only fun for those who don’t care
But I know there’s someone out there
Just beyond the Misty Lane
And I shudder, now I dare think it’s true
That maybe it’s you
Maybe it’s you

Dreams of Your Smile
Michael Mar 2018
I saw you in my dreams
There you were, rubies shining
Your dress, a perfect mask of beauty
You smiled, and I nearly melted into you

I dreamed a dream of you
You sat by my side, a vision
I was so happy just to be near you
You smiled, and I never wanted to wake

In my dream you were here
I thought I felt your cheek touch mine
My emotions were almost too much
I drowned in a whirlpool I never wanted to escape

I dreamed you smiled at me
It was all I wanted in the world
You came close to me, and held my hand
If it wasn’t so sweet, I could believe it was true

Journey Blues
Michael Mar 2018
I’ve got my Sphere, I’ve got my spells
With plenty other whistles and bells
I’ve got my Journeyman, blue as my heart
Cause I know before we even start
The group may cast and bash and hack
And even drive the Darkness back
But when it ends, despite the pleasure
The increased skill and will and treasure
I’ve pressed myself to breath and bone
And then I’m left here all alone

I set out with my friends and kin
With holy Light we travel in
To forests bright and caverns dark
And reawaken Aisling Spark
The rogue sets traps with deadly skill
The monk deals death with spirit still
The warrior swings his sword and mace
I fas until I’m blue in the face!
Our wounds with prayers the priest atones
Yet afterwards, I’m all alone

The monsters die, and skills we learn
But quick enough the fiends return
I grow in power every moon
But others pass me just as soon
We drive back Darkness from the night
But does that fill our Souls with Light?
I Awakened for a Lady fair
But she long ago left Temuair
I have Fire, Water, Wind and Stone
But blue I stand here, all alone

Warp Factor Four
Michael Mar 2018
I wait at the quick mart, Scanning the street
And watch all the people going their way
I've seen them before but we never meet
And I'm sure tomorrow will be like today
None of them pause as they pass by the store
It seems like they're moving at Warp Factor Four

Saturday evening is always the same
My friends are at parties, or Cruising the mall
Do they make true connections or is it a game?
They're acting on Impulse, not caring at all
But how will I ever keep up or keep score?
When everyone's moving at Warp Factor Four

A girl passes by and I try to give chase
But she's moving so fast she Disintegrates
I try to make friends with someone I know
But I can't find a way to "Make It So!"
I can't settle for this, there's got to be more
But everything's moving at Warp Factor Four

They're not slowing down
I feel so Disrupted
I'm starting to frown
My resolve is corrupted
I take a chance and then
Lower my Shields
But I get run over when
Nobody yields

There's no stopping now, my path has been blazed
I may be despised but inside I'm Beaming
When shot with a glance I'm not even Phazed
I couldn't care less, I gave up on meaning
I've found the answer, I'm really alive
'Cause now I'm moving at Warp Factor Five

The One In My Heart
Michael Mar 2018
We may never meet, may never have plans
We may never walk, may never hold hands
We may never share all I want you to know
And there may just be rain at the end of the rainbow
But you're the one in my heart

We may never dance, may never see shows
We may never whisper, may never hold close
We may never kiss out under the stars
And you may be forwarding my letters to Mars
But you're the one in my heart

We may never talk, may never call
We may never see each other at all
We may never be more than far away friends
And the story may leave us apart when it ends
But you're the one in my heart

That Night
Michael Mar 2018
That night
It was cold, oh so cold
The wind bit us, and tossed us about
We wandered from house to house,
singing the songs we knew as children

You were there with me, close to me
and the time I remember was close at hand
But the memories whisper lies
For you weren't with me, though we held hands
Your hand was cold, oh so cold
and I remember being happy
But I wasn't happy
The memories lie

I lost my heart that night
But reliving it does not recapture my heart
Only lose it all over again
I'd do anything to return
I'd do anything to forget
That night

A Faery Tale
Michael Mar 2018
For her I burn, for her I cry
With clashing visions racing by
She rends my tattered dreams apart
My shattered heart she leaves to die
But she's a Fairy Tale!

She flutters in and out my mind
My soul she traps and wings she binds
Tears I've bled and fortunes lost
All for a jewelled and jaded lie
But she's a Fairy Tale!

With silver threads entwining hope
Around my neck in bladed rope
Her charming words and careless curses
Plunge me into depthless woe
But she's a Fairy Tale!

— The End —
