Melissa Feb 2019
L look up hoping for the best
L look up wishing for the best
L look up dreaming of my goals
L look down thinking of the worst
L look down letting my tears fall

Pain
Melissa Nov 2018
It's like an uninvited guest
knowing not when to enter
Hoping for the brightest day
To fill it with grey clouds
It knows no manners
It ventures into the deepest places in a man's treasure
Turning gold to stone
Paving way for the icy cold winter

Broken
Melissa Nov 2018
It touched me
It embraced my broken heart
It nursed my fears of being alone
It opened my eyes to the bigger picture
It made me feel unstoppable
Like a heroine l felt like conquering the whole world
It made me glow brighter than the star above
Untouchable  l was,
Fearless l was,
Until l felt it's claw sink deep in my heart
It felt like l had been shot straight in the heart
It vanished like a fog
Leaving a big scar in my once big heart
It turned my pure heart to stone
I scream, cry and curl in my bed
At hearing the word
LOVE

I miss you
Melissa Mar 2019
I sit at the edge of my seat watching the leaves being blown blissfully against the wind wishing that the day goes faster,
Wishing the weeks and months would go swiftly so that l get to see what my heart yearns for.
L sleep late at night wondering what you have been up to, thinking of all the good things that could have gone wrong.
L walk as though am in a sleep trance buried under the memories of me and you, not noticing the surrounding around me l get knocked out by a tree
but the pain of it is lesser than the pain l feel of you being miles and miles away from me.
The tea l sip in the morning is like sour milk, the bread l eat is like unleavened bread.
The blazing sun on a Monday morning is not enough to melt the ice around my poor heart.
Words in my mouth have been held captive as prisoners failing to to utter your name at your absence, wishing to say it even for a brief second.
But this seems too much for little heart to digest that our eyes won't meet for the coming years.
The sleep seems insufficient wishing to hibernate till we embrace each other in our arms.
The moment would be worth repeating for millenniums to come knowing nothing would conquer what we have.

But what l hold on to now in the middle of the distance between us are words"l miss you"
L decided to try something new

The wind
Melissa Mar 2020
The wind tells a sad story
Wailing as it passes by
Carrying the screams and cries
Of the voiceless.

Driven by the unknown
Erasing what was
Leaving behind part of itself.

The wind tells a sad story
Never thanked always cursed.

Wonders of life
Melissa Aug 2023
Life is a precious gift, a treasure to behold
Like a rare and beautiful flower, that blooms and unfolds
Each day is an opportunity, to grow and explore
Like a curious and adventurous child, who always wants more

Life is a journey, a voyage of discovery
Like a brave and daring sailor, who sails across the sea
Each challenge is a lesson, to learn and overcome
Like a wise and clever teacher, who knows where we come from

Life is a wonder, a miracle to celebrate
Like a dazzling and splendid fireworks, that light up the night sky
Each moment is a blessing, to cherish and appreciate
Like a loving and grateful heart, that always says thank you
