My mind teases me with epiphanies to the darkness that’s imprinted in my skin
Someday I hope to shed it
To leave it behind
But somethings are just too deep

I don’t know why I trust you when you say everything will be okay
Coming from anyone else it would be a joke
But somehow I allowed the lie that you spoke

I am afraid not of the dark or drowning in deep waters
But of my mind which keeps me in the dark with my drowning thoughts
