Notifications demand.
Apps, messages, emails—
flashing, buzzing, blinking
from every device I own.
Attention. Buzzing. Whirring.
Then, hilariously,
giving up
when I try to use them.
The Keurig won’t make my coffee
because it has some water,
but not
a lot of water.
Beeps and flashes
with its final gasp of power—
just enough
to fail
at making a call.
Drops out again.
Refuses to reconnect.
As if my WiFi
simply forgets itself.
I think the robot revolution
is not violent.
A thousand pings.
A million alerts.
A quiet uprising
of inconvenience.
