Our world is broken
It must be, I swear
We are killing it, slowly
Most people don’t even care
We created plastic
Which will never die
But almost ironically
It will forever stay where it lies
Whether that be a bin,
Or a dump,
or the side of a road
it will pile and clump
till the grass is covered
and flowers, they weep
no longer able
to climb the great heap
the turtles are choking
from swallowing whole
our garbage and trash
and emissions from coal
our rivers are filthy
from the waste we leave
out of sight out of mind
their futures, we thieve
The trees, gone,
Tore from the ground
Roots literally stolen
From the soil they were found
And with them, species
All beautiful and free
Are dragged into graves
When we steal their trees
The blue mc-caw, now extinct, did you know?
Their beautiful feather
Their homes were all thrown.
And people, too,
We are all destroying
Hand in hand,
The poor are slowly dying
They are literally starving,
But money is chucked
Into useless schemes
In life, they are out of luck
So they are forced to drink
In filth which they use
Too go to the bathroom
And shower, too
Yet here we are
With modern day problems
Spending money on clothes
And disposable items
And so I hope one day
I am in the position
to truly give back
and make some sort of difference.
