What is music to me?
MacKinzi Atwell Feb 2018
Music to you may just be
words that sound cool with a beat.
Music to me is an escape from
the world and even from myself.
Music speaks to me in
a way no one can.
When I sing the words flow
like the sea calm but rough at times.
When I am hurting or sad
music is my getaway.
Music comforts me like
a mother holding and loving
her first born baby and the
soft lullaby resting on the
lips of the mother.
My life is set to music.
God made the earth and
everything on it.
But he made me for a reason
to spread the word
of him through music.
Music is my life and will forever be.

Umbrella of love.
Shield from all the rain and pain.

Nothing
MacKinzi Atwell Feb 2018
Nothing is nothing
I try to speak but nothing comes out
Gasp for air nothing
Pray and hope for love but nothing
Having nothing scares me
The idea of nothing terrifies me
Like a child in bed scared of the darkness
I’m scared to dream
Scared sleep
Scared to eat
Scared i’m not good enough
Scared of not having anything
In the end i have everything
I could imagine
My life is as God made it

Dream
MacKinzi Atwell Feb 2018
Scared to dream
For what I might find
May never be forgiven
We dream of the perfect love
But is there such a thing
We hope for the perfect life and love
Like a little girl wishing of
becoming a princess
But that dream never comes
Heart shattered like glass
Never able to be restored
A love so tender.

Crush
MacKinzi Atwell Feb 2018
The day we met I knew,
we were meant to be,
Or so I thought.
I just knew you were,
the one for me,
But you weren’t.
We laughed and
smiled together,
Was it all fake?
You said I love you,
I said it back!
Were they just words to you?
Cuz those words
meant the world to me.
We were the couple of the school.
But they couldn’t see the
truth that I saw.
Remember when you said I love you?
You lied.

Map
I am yours
I am the stars
  to your sky
I am yours as the
  river is the oceans
I am the tear to
  your eye
I am the oxygen
  to you lung
All relay off of each other
Each one needs the
  other to survive.

My Love
MacKinzi Atwell Feb 2018
The wish I never held
The blessing I never met
I never got to bounce you around
A book for you never open
You slipped away like the
sun rise on a mournful day
I never got to say goodbye
Or even say your name and,
watch your eyes open wide
I want the world to know
I love just as much.
The stars in the sky are
my kiss goodnight.
I will one day meet you
Elijah Jay.

Daddy’s Girl*
MacKinzi Atwell Feb 2018
The first hand I ever held
The first kiss I ever gave
The first man I ever loved
From the time I opened my,
eyes till the day I die I will
forever be your baby girl.
You will forever be my Daddy
No bond can beat the bond
between a girl and her father
I love you daddy!
You protect my heart from the
pain of boys and hurt.
We have our fights and ups and
downs only because you are
basically fighting with yourself.
Someday I wish and hope that
I will find a man that will love
and treat me the way you did.
Though it will be hard for you to
give your little girl away you will
forever be my number one man.
And when that times comes you
will be ready cause I will be ready.
And when the day comes that I must
let you go home to our true father it
will be hard but I will be ready.
I will always be your little girl
So don’t ever stop calling
me your baby girl.
Nothing will ever change how
much I love you daddy.

The Future*
MacKinzi Atwell Feb 2018
The future is unknown
We might live to see it
but we might not.
The future is unpredictable
So live the now.
It's hard telling what
the future holds,
So just sit back and let
the adventure begin.
It hard sometimes
Because people want to
know what is going to happen
But there is no way of knowing.
That is why you must live in the now.
The future will come someday.
For now live life.

Betrayal
MacKinzi Atwell Feb 2018
A love once so pure
But now a trail of deceived
dreams and lies.
The pain is screaming
To be free.
The pain you made me feel is
Now your pain.
This is for my ex

Heaven's New Angel
MacKinzi Atwell Feb 2018
Your pain is gone
Your visit was short
Your memory forever known
Touched the hearts of many
Saved so many
Missed but loved by everyone
Heaven has a new angel.

MacKinzi Atwell Feb 2018
Life is a challenge - accept it
Life is a blessing - take it
Life is a mystery - solve it
Life is evil - be the hero
Life is a tragedy - face it
Life is a game - beat it
Life is an adventure - explore it
Life is beauty - praise it
Life is sadness - overcome it

Love
MacKinzi Atwell Feb 2018
Love is bittersweet and kind to those who care
It can be the greatest thing but it can hurt too
Love is a man’s biggest deficiency
Love is the thing that starts wars everyday on end
Love is the most evil and deceiving thing
Love is truth and lies put together as one
It drives men insane and disrupts their lives
Love is tear of joy in every mom's eye
It gives your life the meaning you search for
It gives you crazy ideas and nonsense
Love is the best and worst thing to happen
It creates pictures of the perfect life
Love is the power source of the mind
Love will one day be the death of mankind

The World
MacKinzi Atwell Feb 2018
The world is a place,
Of weak and dead people.
Will you be the one to listen,
And avoid the brooding courts.
Write pages of loud advice
in the books in the libraries.
The world is gray and black
Colorless and life less.

“This love”
MacKinzi Atwell Feb 2018
This love of ours
It has been broken and
shattered like glass,
By a natural part of life.
Although I wish to see you time
and time again I can’t.
I do not wish to be hurting but I am on the inside
like a little girl hurt from the death of her puppy!
I am screaming for you yet
nothing comes out not even a whisper.
Like a hole in my heart that he put there.
I never got to say goodbye.
Before he took you away
in his hands of death.
I feel as if I am an Israelite on the day
of the crucifixion.
Why did he take you away?
I am screaming for you yet nothing
comes out not even a whisper.
I think of you night and day.
I want to see you but I can’t.
Can you see me?
I cry myself to sleep,
every night at the thought
of you being gone.
I don’t cry in front of people
Because we are told to be strong for
those around us!
But the truth is I’m NOT.
I love you more than any words,
lyrics or even poems can say.
I hope to see you again someday.
But till then
I see you in the stars and in my dreams.
You aren’t here with me
but I will always Love You Grandma to
the Moon and back.

My Place
MacKinzi Atwell Feb 2018
Hear the old green windmill
shimmer and shake in the crisp
of the summer breeze.
See the old willow dancing in the wind.
And the creek of the old swing swing.
I see the world in ways others can’t.
The smell of fresh cut grass still
hanging in the air.
The sweet smell of a single
dew drop left behind.
I hear and see these thing but do you
hear and see these things?
