Nadir
M Ignacio May 7
Time’s atrophy
coldest eastern sun, ascend
and enter into holy torch ablaze
with peripheral awakening
parting stars, pierce red blood
above frozen petals infinite aloft
upon dead black water

In this oblivion, atoms hesitate
and the earth becomes bleak and shapeless
beneath a suffering once impermeable
now swelling into a deeper silence
the chrysalis of memory
defending its river
the nadir of dawn’s winter

Moon in Exile
There are nights the gaunt moon
pretends to be thunder
to enrapture the hell heavy heart
but tonight, she sings not
sweet silence asunder
no light from her lips shall depart
a moon held in silence, weeps

Dream Catch Her

while naked, she slips
through rivers and
streams
confessing her sins
she silently
screams

flight and dream
in my jar, crooked cold
pressing gray, these bones I fold
while the rain beats dead, a wandering sun
trapped in glass, I hear no one
a passing eye, on occasion may
break the dark, then drift away
some raise my glass, inspect my frame
insect inside, open disdain
a violent shake, the jar disorder
lines in black, define our border
appendage flick, exo-twitch
mortuary, bodies switch
human light, dissolve inside
primordial, formaldehyde
peering out, mosaic eye
a hundred faces, pass me by
strangely calm, I float in fire
wings alight, in razor wire
breathless crowd, violent entwine
close around, my morbid shrine:
‘see his face! so full of death!’
‘my god! the rage! in every breath!’
upon a flame, of crimson doom
they cast my jar and break the gloom
translucent crack, bathe in hate
around my skull, encapsulate
fade to gray, fury flow
perpetuate the vertigo
silence snap, the raucous din
pulls me from, without, within
through incandescent vaults of sky
I find a place within the eye
where time is split in earth and water
twisting light amid the slaughter
sweep me high into the glade
quantum opus cavalcade
ochre lion, desert bliss
bring me metamorphosis
desire to transform into the silence

Earth Scar
M Ignacio May 7
Earth…
In my throat, its pulse
the scar of space
between the silence

trickles above our shadows
the smell of rain
caught in the dim grey eye

breaks in whispers
the blur of night
slipping through skin

our bodies in violent shiver
her curved arm – my god!
is the texture of nightmare

the scar of space
between the silence
the smell of rain…
             …pulses

Crow Born
crow
hungry for god
holds light in mouth
flies into self
alone
he
consumes his death
and is in darkness reborn
beating his wings
to fire
his
eyes
rings of oil
hold the madness in
deep black
iron
pulling
stars through flesh
crying: ‘I am memory!
the sea, I flow
in me I fly
in you
the crow!’
beautiful, intelligent creatures in us
