Daughters share their father’s traumas
As they carry the burden of being unchosen
Never existing in his world, daughters claim hollow land
Ravaged by plagues that are emotional reflections of their worth
Daughters share their father’s traumas with unbridled empathy and shame
Daughters are never thought of much throughout his day
Distance is incurable as they struggle to adapt
The weight of their father’s pain on their backs
Daughters forgive for the sake of sanity
As the only man they ever loved
Crushed their societal expectations under his thumb
Daughters share their father’s traumas with their heads held high
And of course, fathers never ask why
