Hey You Girl!
Ken Marvel Feb 2014
Hey You Girl!

Hey you girl, dressed up in blue.
Acting like I don't stand a chance.
But when I'm not looking at you,
you'd slyly, quickly steal a glance.

Across the lobby from me she sits,
pretending to read a novel.
Stuck on the same page last ten minutes,
concentrating hard, but not well.

I know you like me. And no,
it's not just my ego speaking.
The thoughts you're trying not to show,
like water in a basket is leaking.

So beautiful thou art dear,
And so yes, I like you too.
So close that book, come over here.
And make my daydream come true.

I'm down with the modern groove;
on ancient customs I don't insist.
If a girl like you makes the first move,
oh boy! I sure wouldn't resist.

So find that courage that may be scant
to walk over here and say hi.
If you don't, I'm afraid I can't;
cause like you, I'm terribly shy.
