OOH, OOH, OOH, AHH, AHH,AHH
Kelly McManus Jun 2019
Look at this semi-simeon species that lets itself be ruled by baboons,
and swoons over chimpanzees, screaming in the trees.
Only an orangutan would want to hang with these spider monkeys.
Baby they don't look like swingers to me, just a pack of howler monkeys
hanging round smelling funky. Baby I think we should split this scene,
ya know what would be hip, to jump into a rocket
ship, and peel out of this planet of the apes!

Fill My Empty Eyes
Kelly McManus Jun 2019
Yes, God has made his presence known in my life, from my childhood mysteries,
and wonderment, he was always omnipresent, both in my heart, and the world around me.
Even as I aged, he was always there, when I first really looked at girls, for the first time;
I couldn't believe, for so long, I had been so blind, to not see such beauty that was always there around
me, but now I see, a brand new world for me to explore, with new challenges, and amazements
galore. With the Lord there, whispering in my ear, just keep your faith, and love in your heart,
and know we will never be apart, and it's no mystery there's so much more in the world for
you to see, with a smile on his face he said, just follow me!

One day, a woman
who didn't like
my poetry,
showed up at my
door;
BANG, BANG, BANG, BANG, BANG, BANG, BANG;
I don't write poetry.
Anymore!

Spare Change?
Kelly McManus Jun 2019
Nobody's relative,
irrelevant, indeed,
that's news to me;
will someone sponsor,
this philosophy;
absolutely,
where do I sign,
and when can I see,
the new product line,
and will it air, in prime time?
Buddy, can you spare a dime?

Everything or nothing
Kelly McManus Jun 2019
Lost in the translation,
I don't speak the language,
of such barbaric tribes,
who, deem it OK, too sacrifice,
so many precious lives.
God only Knows why I was born!
In such a primitive time.
Where false ideologies,
outweigh any decency.
What more can one expect;
In a world run by highwaymen
I might lose friends, yes indeed!
But what sort of friends,
would simply agree,
that the way things are,
is the way things should be.
I pray for the world,
to find its way to the light,
for only a miracle, could lead it out,
of this dark night.
Unfortunately poetry,
has failed miserably,
to stop the brutality;
and yes, though it pains me to say,
passive resistance is the only way,
for fighting fire with fire,
you'll surely get burned!
Lone voice in the wilderness,
perhaps, SHOUTING PEACE,
yes all large caps.
Everything or nothing,
you decide;
enough of us can turn the tide!

Looking Out To Sea
Kelly McManus Jun 2019
Pleasantries swaying
in a breeze,
of misty morning
memories,
beyond the past,
is presently,
laid out in front of me,
with a future that is plain
to see, as long as things,
that are unforeseen,
don't interfere with the
dream, of leaning on a
pleasant tree swaying
in a breeze,
looking out to sea.

Deferred Maintenance
Kelly McManus Jun 2019
We  need more funds for our infrastructure.
There are pockets, of our roads to extinction,
that need to be filled; or our society as a whole,
just won't function.
   We need to bridge the gap,
on weapons of mass destruction,
and construct,
more satellites to place up in space.
So, we can spy,
on the human race; cause,
you wouldn't want  to,
come in second place!
    Never fear, the corpse of engineers are here,
and will make everything, look like new, sure,
it might take a year or two, but they have nothing
better to do, and best of all
your kids will pick up the check,
so what the heck.
     The dream is clear,
when we reach the end of the road;
we'll find ourselves, in a virtual paradise,
of mushroom clouds, and silent sounds!
