The fear in my eyes
Killed the fury in yours
We hated goodbyes
They're worse than remorse

The silence runs deep
Into a stream of tears
We hear ourselves weep
Why are we fighting dear?

Words of istighfar
Sounded under your breath
You whispered, "Hawa"
"This is only our test"

Through evil we drift
Into all our regrets
We ask Him for strength
To mend hearts that have bled

Skies aren't always
Shades of pink and blue
There will come days
When lightning strikes too

Their perceptions and opinions
Their mindless inquisitions
"She's too quiet"
"He's too confident"
There's a wrong for any reason

Your "normal" isn't mine
And beauty - how do you define?
Those comparisons you hypothesise
Don't seem to justify
Your strength may be my weakness
But never should you standardise

The key is to appreciate
To respect
As well as tolerate,
To recognise the differences He creates
Such that we complement -
We come to one another's aid

Your weakness may be my strength
Yet never should I uncover
When I've been taught to instead discover
How flaws become wonders
If we sprinkle a little kindness
And what more with the reminder:
"This world won't last forever"

You are just another
Another little fear
No matter how I fight it
It never disappears

You are someone quite defiant
One I'd rather not be near
But in time I start to question
Why then are you still here?

I know there is a reason
Perhaps just for a lesson
As conflicting as it seems
Who knows, we'll be a team?

One step back;
That’s all it could take
They might bend and break
They shiver
And they shake

Another step back;
That gets them on their feet
They start to wander streets
They wonder
Will you meet?

More steps back;
That feel of something missing
They look and keep on searching
They’re empty
But they’re trying

Disappear;
This time they will figure
They realise they need you near
They regret
"If only you were here"

Remember the times
when we both
had no ties?

Adam,
you were there
far apart
as words unspoken
formed a bridge of du'as
from heart to heart

Adam,
you arrived
when my world was blind
to what love was about -
they told me who's best,
it was them who defined

Adam,
you convinced;
you asked for my hand
with courage and respect,
right intention checked,
you put your faith in His plan

Adam,
you are here
for now can they see -
His Love is the measure,
not status nor how familiar
and what's been written, will be

There's a certain charm
A feeling like magic
A mysterious,
quizzical calm

When a little hope
is made stronger by faith
And signs seem to show
with each passing day

But let not it be
Merely wishful thinking -
No prayers; just dreams
No effort put in

Instead fill the soul
Find purpose
Stay gold

Then trust all that He's granted
Was all we've ever needed

If times are tough
They're making you tougher
The storms
So rough
You braved through -
Now you are bolder

Reflect, then realise:
Your trials lead you to treasures

Yet treasures become trials
When you neglect;
You transgress and you find
Your heart is turning blind

Realise, then remember:
Life here is never forever

But forever's in the next
And that's where we'd rather be
Let's steer back towards purpose
Together, you and me

His Book our compass
His Messenger our captain
His Mercy our ship
His Love our destination

To Him we belong
And to Him we shall return
