Circles.
Josh H Feb 2021
Circles and circles I go around;
I feel the weight of the sky falling down,

Circles and circles I go around;
I can't stop going around, and round.

Circles and circles, I go around;
I feel my life going into the ground.

Circles and circles, I go around;
I'm repeating myself, and I can't stop.

Circles and circles, I go around;
When I sometimes gain control of my world,
I only can hold on to it for so, so long;

Circles and circles, I go around;
I can't stop the feeling this merry-go-round,
Circles and circles, I go around.
Why can't I stop the  merry-go-round;

Circles and circles, I go around;
Sometimes I feel like giving up,

Circles and circles, I go around;
I need to fight for my own, own self,

Circles and circles, I go around;
No matter the price, I will stop.

Circles and circles, I go around;
I feel a hound is tracing me around,
Circles and circles, I go around;
I am trying to stop this hound,

Circles and circles, I go around.
I can't stop going around, and round.
Circles and circles, I go around;
I feel the weight of the sky going down.

Stuck
Josh H Feb 2021
I'm stuck in a whirlpool;
A tightening gyre,
The more I struggle,
The deeper I go;
Until there's no gyre left,
Just a Me-sized hole.
Spinning forever, and evermore,
Stuck.

City of stars
Josh H Mar 2021
Eyes closed and gently singing,

Miles of buildings calmly swaying.

Glowing lights, shining through the windows.

Creates a sea of unfinished shadows.

Perched on a rooftop, the wind,

Running its fingers through my hair.

A child wild as ever, smirking, laughing.

Flying through the night, passing around me.

The world bends around me quietly whispering.

On the rooftop, a city of stars, looking up at me.

It's an astonishing display, you see.

Disappeared
Josh H Jan 2022
As I stand on my lowly lit balcony;
I look up at the vast sky,
Blanketed by light, not a single star in sight;
The city around me glistening in light,
Overshadowing the natural glow of the stars;
The night sky vanished, not a single trace left,
Leaving me wondering what will disappear next.

Alone
Josh H Mar 2021
The bitterness of a cold nights air,
Leaves me alone and bare;
With the occasional flickering light,
I walk in darkness with nowhere to go;
The path silent, with trees swaying
I came forth the silver glint of the moon.
Reflecting upon the river, its glow bright as ever;
Even the moon, with its innocent light, leave me desolate;
For the world is so much bigger than I am.
I continue on, along the forsaken path, until I am no more.
Slumped against a tree, closing my eyes,  until I solely hear the rustling of the trees

Lightning
Josh H Jan 2021
Lightning.
A strike through the dark;
A streak of light, breaking through the night;
A spark from the sky;
An ignition from the clouds;
Cutting across the skies,
Like a bolt of fury, the wrath of light,
Mighty, and strong.
The wrath of lightning;
Blasing, and surging;
Like a sheet of light, pulsing through,
shattering through;
The power of lightning no-one can beat;
The indignation of lightning, a powerful feat.

Starry Night
Josh H Jan 2021
Starry Night, Star Alight
The last star I see;

As I glaze in the sky,
In the bright night sky,
Stars glistened, stars shined;
It all was calm; It all was bright.

Starry Night, Star Alight
The last star I see;

It is so that stars appear, to help glow the way;
In the path of a dark road, I see stars appear,
Shining strong, Shining bright; It all seemed like day;

Starry Night, Star Alight
The last star I see;

Gazing upwards the wakening sky,
As stars vanish from the night;
The last remnants of the night, shining so dazzlingly,
It fades away into nothingness, with the last of its glee.

Triplet Haiku

---------------------------------------------------
                  On a far mountain
Waiting --- I saw a doe waiting for
                  Its' fawn to come back

                        On my walk to school
Cool Ocean --- I saw a shining ocean
                         Gleaming in the sun

                              On a rainy day
Happy Flowers --- The flowers are rejoicing
                              For the rain has come

Lost in a vast sea of black
Nowhere to run, nowhere to hide
All around me is darkness,
consuming me, eating me alive.
I am lost.

Lost
Josh H Nov 2020
The darkness has taken the night;
The world is a fright.
With no hope in sight,

The light has vanished;
The hope gone.
My words blemished;
And my soul has drawn.

The lightning strikes ;
With nowhere to see.
I abandon all tears;
My conscience seeks peace.
My wholeness has gone;
And my light dimmed.

Far too much misery,
Too much noise;
Too much singing, too much song;
Far too empty, too wrong.

Abandoned
Josh H Feb 2021
My heart aches;
And my soul blemished,
I see the pounding in my mind.

My body weakened;
And my guard down,
I let the darkness fill my eyes.

My eyes blank;
And my mouth brittle,
I taste death passing by.

My feet lift from the ground;
With my heart beating,
I smell the smell of being forgotten.

My consciousness lost;
And my hand by my side,
I feel myself falling into oblivion.

My senses astray;
And my figure forgotten,
I hear the silence of the void.

April Sonnet
Josh H Apr 2021
April rain turns lives sparkling and new
Slowly flowing down from the windowpane,
Every drop colored in its vivid shade
Dances to the wind coming to the plain.
Sweet flower petals tremble in their bed
For the dramatic lightning's sheer delight,
Young roses are in bloom, tinted in red
A burning flame inside the darkest night.
And this majestic night will soon be gone
When all the April tears fall to the ground,
Blind passion fades like the plummeting sun
And young hearts break without a single sound.
Even though the rumble of thunder is near,
There is hardly anything left to fear.

Hatred
Josh H Jan 2021
Hatred a vengeful act; a bitter thought.
It spreads like wildfire, everlasting, ever-growing,
Hatred an eternal reflection; where no love can overcome;
It is in every person's heart, waiting- waiting- watching.
Hatred wants to anger, outrage, destroy;
It leaves a person, torn, distraught, empty;
Like a lifeless vengeance, Hatred
Invades;
Kills;
And burns;
All the hearts it comes through.

Sadness
Josh H Jan 2021
Sadness; Fills the heart with flames;
Slowly turning into hatred;
Sadness conquers your thoughts;
And leaves you in mid-air.
Your thoughts; Oh your wonderful dreams;
Lies crooked, twisted, contorted;
Your Thoughts;
Like a broken flower,
Lies awake for hours,
With nowhere to think;
Time warps around you,
With teardrops falling down;
Like a thunderstorm heavily, Falling..
Falling...
Falling....
Falling.....
Each second feels longer than the last;
With your mind contorted,
Staggering into the abyss
Your hands tremble, and your eyes shut,
Finally, With no more to cry, And,
Your soul left your body;
Sadness left your mind..  meaningless;

The Inspiration of Life
Josh H Feb 2021
One Day, I flew a Kite. The sun was shining bright.
Then I heard the sea on the wind,
And smelled the places I had been.
My ship had sunk many years ago,
But my life had never ceased to groan.
When despair had gripped me heart and soul, I found myself again in control.
For the tide is a thing that comes, and it goes.

Geese
Josh H May 2022
I heard the calls of the geese.
The geese flying over my cabin in the woods,
Over the smoke of my fireplace in the bitter winter cold,
Flying in an ever-widening formation of a V as others join
In the search for a place warm and mild.
How I wish I could fly with them, their lives so simple
To escape my past and start someplace new.
To leave behind my worries and fly away.
Away from everything that troubles me,
Like geese migrating to find warmth;
Then they were gone, flying past the horizon, leaving me alone once again.
And I dreamt,
Dreamt that I was one of them flying in formation,
Leaving all my troubles behind me.

The End of Relativity
Josh H Feb 2021
What is a thing to be relative?
To sleep all night and walk all day.
When some would think I am celibate,
I know not what I should say.
Does a door function without hinges? Or a table stand without legs?
Indeed my life has been Infringed When I limit my drink to the dregs.

Shattered Dreams,
Josh H Jan 2021
Somewhere a lifeless body sits in the rain.
Somewhere a creature unknown tears apart.
Somewhere a boy sitting in the rain greaving; crying.
Somewhere a dream tears part their heart;
Somewhere a once anew was filled with sadness;
Somewhere a boy sat broken, shattered, dejected;
Dreams; So joyful, So wondrous, So deceitful'
Dreams; A shattering in the heart, a lifeless body;
Dreams; So innocent, yet corrupting;
Dreams; Leaves your heart severed, beaten;
Dreams; Leaves you crippled, subdued;
Dreams; Ends your soul in one blow, one stroke;
Dreams; The start of your journey, yet also the end;
Dreams; Once held Light turned Dark;
