The morning tide, calm
And so was the breeze
Passengers parade through her lithe arms
The people cheer, and with all her glory
She sets proud to the open sea
The waters ripple clear as glass
As night blankets the starry sky
The captain made his final command
All was still, all was perfect
But that moment was about to end
This midnight cruise, caught unaware
For amidst the fog, the crew abruptly saw
An icy enemy-- then the fatal flaw
It stole her life, tore her heart
As chaos unmercifully did its part
Her wondrous lights begin to fade
As this maiden vessel seals her fate
She gracefully descends into the sea
As thousands of agonized cries prevailed
A tormenting sound to remember for eternity
This mighty ship, sails no more
For she had reached her destination--
Far into the dark ocean floor
There, she embraces those who sleep with her
As they dream in their perpetual slumber
My own Poem about that disastrous night which took place more than a hundred years ago
